True to her word, Laney had showed up. It took her a bit longer than she'd anticipated but she'd finally managed to sneak out. Apparently, it was a little harder to climb down a trellis with a bag in your hand. But Alfie had said it was necessary for her to bring a change of clothes, and not knowing if he intended her clothes or Natalie's clothes, she'd packed a set of each. Although, she did have an inkling what he meant, one could never be quite sure.
After jogging most of the way, she came to a brisk walk when she saw the pub ahead. Alfie standing outside made her stomach twist into a tight knot, but she willed herself to calm down. This was strictly business. She wasn't sure what kind of business it was, but if her best friend needed her, then she was going to be there with her game face on. As such, she was wearing all black in case they needed to break into something. No one ever said Laney Evans wasn't prepared for everything.
"Hey," she said, when she finally stood in front of him. "So what's the plan?" She hoisted the bag over her shoulder.
