I'm thinking that as the party is over, maybe we should just keep it at home?
His lack of response about Katie had Vivian lifting an eyebrow. The answer was obvious. Vivian herself had had plenty of boyfriends, but sometimes she really couldn't say that she felt anything romantic for any of them, unlike Calvin's feelings for Katie. Simply put, they really were merely friends. His absence had indeed been taking a toll on Vivian, and her parents would often tell her to stop whining about his being with others and that she should get herself out there. She had no issue having friends - she would often find herself partying through the night with them. Nothing ever compared to her time with Calvin, however, and she would always catch herself missing him. Her next thought made her giggle - Was her love, her obsession, her possessiveness over Calvin healthy? In the least? Probably not. She started when she realized that she had been staring at her brother, rather intently and she looked back down, fiddling with his shirt, as her cheeks gained a little color.
Calvin's fingers in her hair were soothing, and his tender reply was even more so. "Were you planning on going somewhere, or something?" she asked him, confused. "You really don't have to stay..." Truly? She might have been tweaking the truth just a little. She wanted him to stay. This way, she wouldn't have to worry about something either happening to Calvin, or finding herself in another fit of panic in the middle of the night, alone. Her selfishness made her cringe on the inside. Calvin had been having his own issues with his dreams, lately. His dreams would often bother him, as well. She figured that his were worse however. They took such a toll on him. Her protective instinct kicked in and she looked up at him. "Promise me that you will get some rest, too? I can be here to wake YOU if you have your own nightmares. We both win, this way!"
