Once the music quieted for a moment Vivian bolted upright - the sudden quiet had startled her into waking from her random bout of slumber. "What the..." Had she slept for long? Looking over at her clock, she saw that it had merely been thirty two minutes since she had last checked. At least she didn't sleep through the party...
Vivian's heart jumped slightly when she heard Calvin's voice. Had he been knocking for long? She certainly hoped not. She hit the power button on her stereo and hurried to the door, opening it rather enthusiastically. "Calvin! Sorry! I didn't hear you over the music- how long were you knocking?" She loved his little visits to her room, and would gladly take any excuse for him to stay a while. "Was it up too loud?"
She sat back down at her desk and looked up at him, smiling. "So, what's up, Calico?" She never knew how Calvin felt about all of her little nick names for him, but it was a little hobby of hers, and when bored, she would spend a lot of her time trying to come up with new ones.
She figured Cal’s reason for coming might just have been to get the persuasion out of the way – which didn’t really bode well. He never really went to a party without her coaxing him into it, and Luke’s party was tomorrow night – he had to know that. It wasn’t like Calvin to walk right into the lion’s den. So what did it mean? This had better not be doomed to fail, she thought, nervously. If he wouldn’t allow her to convince him, then there must be a reason, right?
