LMAO THIS IS THE GREATEST.
He was right. There were only five beers. However, what Laney had failed to realize when she'd left the party was that the two cokes she'd also gotten her sticky fingers on had been half emptied and topped off with some rum. Unfortunately, the way she'd figured it out started in her taking a large gulp and and ended in her spitting it out on the pavement on her walk to the beach. She'd recapped it and tossed it in her backpack with the other beverages, not wanting to get started without her best friend.
Now, she sat on the lifeguard chair in a jacket and some jeans waiting for him to show up. She knew he wouldn't be long, so she decided just to sit and think about stuff until he showed up. Although, really, the only thing she had to think about was the one thing she was trying not to think about: if she liked Alfie. And, by proxy, if he liked her back. She figured she should probably ask him about it, but wasn't really up to the embarrassment that could come out of it if he said no.
"Hey," she yelled at him when she spotted him coming across the sand. Pushing all previous thoughts out of her head, she hopped off the chair and ran to see him, a large grin plastered across her face. "What took you? I almost drank all the beer."
