Well that wasn't subtle at all. "David!" she laughed. "You're doing it again!" But her tone turned suddenly serious at David's reaction to her last comment. She fixed him with a calculating expression as he looked down at his drink, and flinched ever so slightly when he threw it back. Lexie knew he was a heavy drinker, but she'd noticed that he had a tendency to hit the alcohol hard when she'd struck a nerve.
"David?" Her tone was even, despite the fact that she'd made his name a question. She pushed away from the wall and walked unsteadily around the table, slipping her hand into his. "Are you okay?" She knew she was right. He could deny it all he wanted, but it made so much sense.
