"And it'd been working! Just... slowly. It's hard to break old habits, you know? This is how I've been basically my whole life." The sad part was, it was true. Lexie had always been a good listener - obedient, sweet, always did as she was told. Partially it was just good child rearing on her parents' part, but part of it was just... Lexie. She thrived in her environment, and that was all there was to it. It made her wonderfully responsible, it also made her repressed. She'd missed out on much more than she realized, although she was starting to understand that now, thanks to David.
"Like..." Lexie cast about for some proof. "I never would've worn this dress two months ago," she said, indicated her dress. "I can let loose. Just in little ways." Lexie was about to argue that she was trying to control what she put in her body, but it was difficult to do that when David was so ridiculously convincing, but she bit back the remark, not quite drunk enough to say it out loud. After all, it wasn't David's fault at all. He'd mixed the drink, sure, but she was the one actually doing the drinking.
"Ah. So you just like to have your own suspicions confirmed. Which is interesting." Lexie took another sip of her drink and leaned against the wall again. "You'd rather have me insult you and confirm your preconceived notions about yourself than compliment you and contradict them." Wow. That was surprisingly insightful. It was a good thing she was tipsy, or she probably wouldn't have let that little gem tumble out of her mouth.
