Macy was taking her mandatory dunk in the water. It was required that every hour or so, all the lifeguards go into the water for a few minutes. She swam to the swimmer's buoy and back before figuring that her time was up. It was nice out, warm even, so she didn't mind going in. It wasn't like the water was freezing or anything.
She swam to shore and started walking in, pushing her hair away from her face and wringing it out. The curse of short hair meant that she could never pull it back, so it was always in her face. It didn't bother her much, though.
"Oh, hey Seth," she said as she walked by his lounge chair. It was relatively close to her lifeguard chair. She shielded her eyes against the sun and smiled. "Nice day to sit on the beach."
