"Uh-huh. And the reason that you've only ever managed to actually hit me like... three times is because...?" Luke maintained his smirk and reached down to ruffle Mao's hair a little, a much more affectionate gesture than an angry or malicious one. He had to be careful to keep his ice cream level, though, as it was beginning to drip at an alarming rate. Luke withdrew his hand rather quickly as a result, so he could take a few more bites of ice cream and head off some of the sticky drops.
"All right, all right. Half Jedi. That I'll give you. But hey, with all the other crazy shit that's been going down on this island, who's to say that I won't develop weird mind powers? Huh? And besides, I already do half the awesome shit that my fabulous, universe-saving namesake can. Well. Except maybe handle a lightsaber. But I'm working on that." Looking over at Mao, he caught the sad expression on his face and bowed his head a little. Poor guy. He almost wanted to reach over and... but he couldn't. At this point, awkwardness held him back. Instead, he opted to answer his question.
"I'm not sure exactly what it means, but I heard some people mention this... other person. Patient X-1 I think they called it. Sometimes they referred to her as a girl, so I assume she's female. But anyway, they were talking about how they were going to make a delivery to the island, but it got delayed because X-1 went haywire and... I'm not exactly sure what happened, but they guys sounded afraid, so I assume it was dangerous shit. But right before I left they were talking about bringing her to the island. Mao. I think they're sending us a crazy person. Maybe she even has powers like us. I don't know." Luke bit his lip nervously. "But don't tell anyone, okay? I don't want everybody freaking out."
