Max was in the process of nursing his coffee when Evan swanned into the diner and promptly sat down, rolling his eyes at his friend's greeting. "You're such a dork and nobody knows it but me. How sad is that?"
One hand reached out for the sugar and he promptly dumped it into the depths of his black coffee, hoping to sweeten it enough to stomach, coffee on its own was bitter and acrid to the tastebuds. "I've been exactly where I've always been. You my friend have been nothing short of absent and that in itself is near unforgivable."
He'd made a concentrated effort not to look like shit because Max was of the mind that hiding your problems was totally the way forward, especially as he was so used to doing it.
