Laura wasn't picking up many shifts at the clinic given Jacquelyn's recent arrival, but she couldn't stand to leave Josephine short handed for very long, so she'd come in for a few hours that afternoon. She smiled at Carter as she entered the examination room, closing the door behind her. The nice thing about working on such a small island was that Laura really got to know her patients. Of course, that same strength could easily become a drawback when the patients were difficult, but Carter rarely was.
"Hello Carter," she said warmly. "A summer cold, I see. What's the trouble, specifically?" Laura had been trained, by now, to treat every cold as if it were a symptom of something Project related, so her notes were sure to be thorough. She waited patiently, her pen poised over his chart.
