Who: Emily & Jacen What: Talking about Dune When: Camping trip, night Where: Jacen's tent and outside Rating: Low Status: In-Progress
Emily was lying in her dark tent, but sleep wouldn't find her. She had gotten to a stopping point in her book, not exactly the best stopping place, but Katie had come in and apparently was sneaking into Calvin's tent and was asking what to wear. Apparently she wanted to look sexy...for Calvin...ew on so many levels. Sexy in a sentence relating to Calvin, one of her best friends, coming from Katie, her other best friend, was a moment Emily had hoped never would come. Unfortunately her prayers went unanswered. Once Katie left it was kind of late and Emily decided to wait to finish until tomorrow, but that last line she read...
When Emily reads books she always found herself really invested herself in the characters and their well being. Even though Princess Irulan had barely been introduced to the book Emily felt like she knew this girl better that Paul, since each chapter began with quote from her writings. Just like her poems bared her soul Irulan's quotes seemed to inform Emily about what Irulan was all about. And what Paul thought, 'she's the key' or something along those lines worried her. She knew sleep wouldn't come as long as this bothered her and instead of opening the book and staying up all night immersed in the Dune world there was only one other course of action. Ask Jacen, the Dune expert. It was simple enough, go over to his tent, ask her question, he quells her fears, she goes back to her tent and sleeps.
Luckily she wasn't sharing her tent with anyone so she didn't have to sneak as carefully as Katie did. She crept out of her tent, not really concerned about her outfit. Jacen had a sister, it wasn't like he'd never seen a girl in a tank top and sleep shorts. Emily ducked into his tent...he was tucked into his sleeping back fast asleep. Of course he'd be asleep, it was late. She hadn't planned about waking him up, but it was important, also it was about Dune so he probably forgive her for disturbing him. She gently poked him on the shoulder and whispering his name over and over again.
