Who: Dietre and Nikhil. When: Monday. Where: Abendroth home. What: D gets a tutor! Raiting: Low.
School was over for the year, and so a long, dull summer stretched out before him. A blessing and a curse all in one. He was free from the stresses of a classroom full of his peers, but he was now stuck in a house with two people who cared nothing for him. At times, the tension could be unbearable.
Though, this year there was a few glimmers of hope that he wouldn't be holed up in his room the whole time. He had, a shock even to himself, joined up with the local dance studio as their musician, where he met that nice girl, Gloriana. And this morning his father surprised him by announcing he was going to have a tutor for the summer. Some people at the high school had made the suggestion to his parents, saying it would be a shame for Dietre to have to repeat a grade due to absences when he was such an exemplary student when he did attend. And as his absences were beyond his control, they thought that perhaps a tutor would work well. Dietre had missed too much for regular summer school to do any good.
Dietre spent the rest of the morning trying to figure out how he felt about the arrangement. He was glad not to have to take summer school, the students in those classes were not the sort he cared to be around very much. And he was eager to learn. But having a person come to his home made him a little anxious, what if he wasn't a good teacher? What if the man disliked him and ended up treating him with the same disdain his parents had for him?
Thinking on these things made him nervous, and so Dietre retreated to his usual source of stress relief, his piano. He intended to play until the tutor arrived, going through all his favorite pieces, Chopin's Raindrop Prelude, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata and so on.
