Calvin nodded, glad that Casey understood. Having this argument with Jac was worse than pointless; it was like trying to reason with a brick wall. Not that he really minded, given that it was Jac. But still. At least Casey saw reason. And they were social, according to Casey! His eyes glinted as he asked, "do they talk more than ducks?"
"I would love to!" Calvin's head dipped a little in nonverbal apology and his tone was oddly gloomy as he said, "but with tennis and school and everything, I'm never able to make it here before the shelter closes. Except on the weekends, and that's only if I have a free day." He cuddled the kitten in his arms and looked down into the crate to watch the rest of them play. "I wish I could be here more. But they have you, right?"
