Comic-Con...nothing really more could be said than that. It had to be one of Carter's favorite time of year. It was the time of year where he got to mingle with others of his kind. Where geekdom was celebrated and rewarded. Where knowing all the words to every Star Wars film was something that was the coolest thing ever...not something that would evoke the response of that you should get out more. Yes, it was one of the best times of year. However, this year Carter was absolutely petrified.
He and Abby had been back together for over a year now and while it was hard making the long distance work they managed to find time for her to visit him an vic versa. Also Skype was used often. Now she did say no when he asked her to move in with him but he knew why. She was busy with school and he was working on projects in LA so one of them would have to move across the country and neither wanted the other to give up on their dreams and goals. However, even though that couldn't happen it didn't change the fact that Carter had purchased a ring a few weeks back and asked her father and sister's permission to ask Abby a certain question. Surprisingly they were actually thrilled...well he assumed Morgan wasn't but luckily Mandy was in control at the moment.
So there he was dressed as Han Solo from the first movie where he had to rescue Princess Leia. In other words a storm trooper costume. It served a dual purpose, first it matched Abby's Princess Leia ep IV costume and also he could throw his helmet on to stay incognito to not be harassed by any anti-mutant protesters. However, he did have to say in Hollywood they were rare and at Comic Con they were almost non-existent. But one can never be to careful. Also he was making a name for himself and risked being recognized, so it was safer to be in disguise...just in case.
Carter glanced over at Abby his hand linked with hers as they walked through the crowd as they waited for they opened the doors to the room to the next panel that they wanted to see. He knew now would be the right time to just come out and ask her, but he was still petrified. She was still in school and he was still working on projects. She said no to moving in so why would she say yes to marrying him? Marriage usually entailed living together. He gave her hand a little squeeze and decided to do what he thought was the best course of action,
"So the panels this year are pretty cool, huh?" Not mention it at all.
