Lawrence blinked. "The mausoleums? No. I'm just... cutting through to my building. It's faster."
As real estate became harder to come by, people grew more creative and less selective about location. The houses that had been fashioned over the cement death houses tended to be fairly opulent, and were - surprisingly - out of Lawrence's price range. Or at least they had been before his recent pay raise. He could probably afford the down payment on a house now... but there was no point. He lived alone, and wasn't any closer to starting a family than he had been when he'd moved into his small, economical apartment.
"Look, I'm... really too tired to nose in on your, ah, business, Miss, but I think I saw a security detail not far back. You might want to move on, if you're done here."
