log: Dave and Janis Who: David Samson and Janis Jones. What: After the phone call with Janis's dad, Dave goes to talk to Janis. They discuss where their friendship is going. Long story short, stuff happens. When: Last Tuesday, the 8th? Sure. Before the blackout. Directly after this Where: Janis's room. Whoa: It's pretty tame, but there is in fact, ~sexual situations~.
David Samson put the phone down and rubbed at his temple. One deep slow breath got his pulse most of the way down as he tried to put together the phone call he just got. Janis's dad thought they were living together. Wes thought Janis was 'off limits' because of him. Jack thought all Dave needed was love.
All Dave wanted was to lie under his desk for a little bit longer.
But if he got the call, then Janis was going to get the call too and she should at least be warned. Slowly, he pulled himself up and looked as his clock to figure out where she'd be in her day and headed off in her direction...
Janis took her time getting back to her room. She didn't have much to do today. Summer classes consisted of a few students and Dr. McCoy didn't leave her a whole lot to do. Hugging a stack of folders to her chest, she switched her bag from one shoulder to the other, fumbling for her keycard. At the top of the stairs, she looked down the hall and saw Dave going towards her room. Or maybe he was going to someone else's room. That's likely. Geez, Janis. Should she say something or just keep her head down? Okay, head down, sounds like a plan.
Just a quick warning, nothing too intense or demanding from her. I mean, Janis has been through a lot these last few days and the last thing that Dave wants to do is upset her anymore than he already has. Which could be a near impossibility at this point. He keeps it brief and to the point.
"Janis! Your dad called. He thinks we're sleeping together. Just a heads up."
And with that, he ducks back behind his sheets.
"Hey!" Janis is mixed embarrassed and angry. Like someone just walked by and tripped her. Snapped her bra. Yes! Exactly! Like high school. Holding her hands up, "What?!"
Dave pokes his head back out. "Your dad. He called me because he thought we were sleeping together," he says with a completely straight face, like he was talking about something he saw on TV. "I said no, but he's probably going to call you, I- does he know you're working here now?"
Janis shakes her head, squints her eyes in frustration, "Of course you said no!" She feels he could have worded that differently. "Why would he think that? --And that's between he and I, David." Maybe she should tell her dad where she's working now. Good idea.
With complete innocence, Dave replies, "He said something about... addresses?"
"OH." That's totally her fault. Janis stands there in silence. Defeated. You win this round, Samson. Actually, Dave's been winning a lot lately. She sighs and her shoulders slump. "By the way, I have a birthday gift for you. With Canada and laundry and me being a lush, I forgot about it." One might notice that she's not met his eyes, let alone even looked at his face since the other night.
Her averted gaze hasn't escaped Dave's notice. The birthday present thing had though. "Oh, well uhh..." He scratches at the back of his head and takes a step back out into the hallway. "You really didn't have to, the ... big rescue was pretty fantastic as is." His fingers tap against his leg. It's her show, she could duck back into her room and then everything would all go back to yellow alert and life would continue. She could also invite him over to give him something and they could try talking it out again. Dave tried to make peace with himself either way.
Janis bites her lip and starts towards her door. Keycard in hand, unlocking and opening... "Look, I did, and I'm not going to take them back," she snapped. "So just get over here. I'm not going to try and molest you."
Dave chuckles a little shyly, maybe even a little relieved, and looks down, pulling a hand through his hair. "I know, I know," his hands go up and he surrenders into her room. Once inside, he puts them into his pockets and looks around like he hasn't been here before, like this is only that superficial kind of awkward where everything was new.
Janis sets her folders down, carefully untangles her bag strap from her hair. She snatches a decent sized box from her bookshelf. It's wrapped in Hello Kitty paper. "... it's the only kind I have..." It's actually two boxes wrapped together. A heart rate monitor that looks like a wrist watch and a silly little tie. Red, with little monkeys-- like from the game Barrel of Monkeys on it. It's so tacky, she's sure he'll never wear it. But he's a fancy lawyer type, they need ties.
Shuffling his way over, he accepts the box with a small smile and a 'thanks', looking at her and the box a couple times before getting the idea he should open it here. It's quick, but something of a decision has to be made.
Carefully, he unwraps the gift without harming the paper, just in case tearing a kitten is a sin somewhere to someone. "Oh, hey!," he notes at the heart monitor. "You noticed I kind of... lost the old one..." 'Lost' as in threw somewhere in his room at a moment of frustration. The tie he holds up over the one he has on. "What do you think?"
"I noticed you keep checking your pulse." Janis seems a little annoyed despite the fact that he's being so cute. "I think it looks nice." Tacky. But nice. Now what? Now Dave leaves and she goes back to ignoring him.
He lets the tie rest across his shoulder and tucks the box under one arm. Indeed, the distraction is now over, leaving them with a heavy bout of silence. "Thanks," he gets out of the way, wondering if he just came in two settings these days: 'Thanks' and 'Sorry'. Can he think of anything else? "So..."
"You're welcome." It's kind of funny now. But Janis keeps a straight face. "So."
Both hands gesture between the two of them. "Are we cool?," Dave asks, steadying himself for the answer.
Janis catches the gesture out of the corner of her eye. She's looking down at her fingernails. "I don't know, are we?"
"Why wouldn't we be?," Dave asks in a soft voice.
"Because I keep fucking it up?" Ah, now she's looking up at him. Just forget about it, Janis.
He looks sympathetic. "Well, I wouldn't say you have the monopoly on doing that...," Dave admits.
Janis really doesn't want every conversation with Dave to be this big THING. But she can't stay quiet now. She looks a little nauseated. "Do... you just want me to forget about it? Pretend like everything is normal? It's up to you, Dave. What do you want me to do?"
Dave has no answer for that. None at all. He doesn't even know what he wants to do with himself let alone Janis! He's at a loss one more time and this time he isn't at least crumpled in a ball on the laundry room floor. He's ambulatory and everything inside of him just wants to make use of these moving limbs and get out. Let her decide, let her figure this out and get space again.
Well, that's not true. Not everything inside of him.
It's pressure; he wants to move, he wants to pace, he wants to escape and that all comes from something else. A breath comes in a bit of a huff as he looks away, can't take her pleading at him like that, like everything from this point on falls on his head so if she's miserable it'll be his fault. David swallows and starts to turn, to get away, but with a set of actions he can't remember planning out, his steps swivel and close the distance between him and Janis. A hand goes to her shoulder and his head dips in, taking a kiss from her in an almost frantic act of answering her.
Janis started to watch him leave thinking... 'it figures.' Resting all her weight on one foot, slumping a little. She's been selfish. She should just be Dave's friend right now. Anything more is way too much to ask. She should have just taken the hint, shouldn't have nagged. Just forget about it. This is the easy way out, repression and all that, she can do it--
She freezes when he kisses her. She doesn't know what to do! Besides the obvious, kiss him back? She makes a little sound, a whimper in the key of questioning. Tentatively wrapping her arms around his waist.
The freezing is what sort of shocks him out of things; at first, he didn't even recognize what he was doing, Dave just moved forward, into her and against her lips. He took a kiss, something she hadn't expected in the slightest. Then again, neither did he but here they were, the last desperate act of a desperate man. His hand held her shoulder a little tighter, as if to trying to cause a similar frantic action in her by squeezing, but the whimper... the question he felt as she tentatively responded...
He's not sure what he was expecting, so maybe it was an excuse. Maybe he also watched too many movies. His head pulls back but not far enough. Eyes half closed, he stares at her mouth. "Whoa... sorry... too- too fast, I know, I'm sorry..." And he tries to reel himself in.
Janis feels like a dork now. He's going to think she never kissed a guy or something. She's just never been kissed by Dave before. Janis recalls maybe laying a smooch on him when they were really little kids. Innocent kisses here and there, nothing like this. Nothing he's initiated.
She can feel her heart in her chest. Wonders if her lips are chapped. "I--you're sorry? ...Too fast? Not fast enough." This can't be over yet! Dave can't give up! She was just confused, wasn't sure if this is really what Dave wanted. She feels guilty, like she's finally twisted his arm.
Slowly, in case he wants to get away, she pulls him close to her. It's kind of weird, but it's also kind of comfortable. No no, it's really comfortable. She doesn't want to let go. Janis continues to feel like a silly girl, marvel at how he's slightly taller than her. How good he smells. The fact that she's wanted to be standing with him like this for what seems like forever. This is it. She slowly leans forward, her lips touching his in what might not even be a kiss. The most gentle of touches. Don't be frantic, desperate, or impulsive. Let this matter.
He stays. He's not sure he could have moved his feet if he even wanted to, rooted to the spot and where he'd put himself through his own actions. David stays in place, held there by both Janis and himself. His mouth is open, ready in case he wanted to say something, but nothing comes to mind. It's all being done, finally. Finally.
A sense of relief comes from that, from her coaxing and her kiss and finally, David Samson just relaxes. Both hands rest on her shoulders as he holds her, kisses her, his brain put on temporary hold just to let this happen.
The kiss is chaste on Janis' end. She doesn't want to scare him away. She's good at that, in one way or another. When there's a moment to breathe, Janis pulls away and rests her head on his shoulder. Hugs him tightly, convinces herself not to say anything.
She lets go but doesn't. Eyes close, David's heart is steady though his chest as she rests against him, his arms wrapping around her. It's weird in that Dave's probably the most calm he's been since his first 'attack' and it came from such a moment of panic... wow. He sighs, letting something go that he didn't know he was holding as he rests his head against hers and just holds her. What does he say? What can he say?
Janis turns her head, gives his neck a little peck and looks up at him. "Now, I did say that I wasn't going to try and molest you..."
Dave chuckles, happy that someone said something and little more than relieved as well. "I'm not going to hold you to that," he says quietly to her, brushing back her hair and hugging her close.
Janis laughs, despite the fact that she's sure her cheeks are probably pink. She snuggles against his neck, pressing her face against his skin. She kisses his earlobe. In a way, she's kind of hiding. She doesn't want to see his face when she asks, "...And this is okay?" This. All of this. Holding each other. The fact that she's going to want to kiss him a lot more now that this first time has finally happened. Things being different now. Whatever happens, things have changed. Even if this is an isolated event.
Dave considers that for a moment and in response, reaches for one of Janis's hands to place it against his neck. Pulling back just a little, just enough to try and see her face as she's been hiding from his (probably in the best way humanly possible, mind you; he's not complaining), he takes a deep breath and admits, "Yeah." It might not always be okay, it might not always be safe and his heartbeat might not always be this steady little beat; if given enough time, he could probably think of a million and one 'ifs', each one more terrible than the next. But that's not important right now. "It's... okay," he tells her as if just coming to the realization himself.
Janis is so happy right now, she's fidgeting. Giddy, moving her weight from one foot to the other. "Okay. Good." But what does it mean?! It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter at all right now. She slides her hand from his neck into his hair. She doesn't look away, just stares at him. She wants to say something, but nothing seems particularly smart or cute comes to mind. So she just blurts out whatever. "I trust you." Even if he turns into a monster. "And... I love you. I mean. In love with you." In case he missed it during the time he almost turned into a monster. "And I'm going to stick around..." Despite the monster thing. Like a sidekick, only with more kissing. Hopefully.
He hugs her tight as she admits she trusts him because that... that is the most beautifully terrifying thing anyone has ever said to him. She trusts him. "Janis, I'm going to do everything I can to deserve that trust," he says in a sigh, trying to ignore that creeping worry. Not now, not now, just give him now and later he can go pace and panic and fret to his heart's content. Just give him now. "Because I love you." A chuckle. "In love with you," he amends with a sort of smirk. "I wish I could promise you this is going to be easy...."
"Don't. Don't, just don't. I know. Isn't that nice? I already know." How could you ever explain this to a normal girl, Dave? "I know it won't be easy and I still want this. I want you." And how!
Dave looks impressed. Or at least a little pink. "Wow," he says to her. Couldn't miss it that time.
"What?" It's cute that he's all modest. Wasn't she just crawling all over him the other night? Drunk, but she did go to his room and not a Certain Other Person's.
He smiles a little bit, looking back towards the door. "Well, that's very direct. Is this a 'now' sort of situation, should I... clear my schedule for the rest of the day?" He's obviously teasing, having a little trouble taking such a bold statement all that seriously. I mean, him? Really?
"Dave! You-- I--" Janis is embarrassed. "I have to be direct. You don't take hints very well." Then she tries to look as innocent as possible, looking up at the corners of her eyes, "I mean, if you're not busy..."
"Who said anything about hints? Sometimes I don't get being direct all that well either." Dave matches that look with a just as innocent smile. "I suppose I could just let voicemail take over for awhile, finish that deposition later..." Because really, by this point he can't imagine letting go of her and just... walking back to his room.
"I guess you could do that. I'd actually really like that... If you don't take hints or being direct, what do you take?" Janis is also under the belief that if he goes now, he won't come back.
Dave looks up as he goes through a little datebook in his head and possibly looks to God for how to explain how thick-headed he can be. "I have no idea," he sighs with a shake of his head. "Maybe a cream and two sugars at this point." Yeah, he could get back to the books later. He gives her a bit of a curious look, the same way you eyeball Ikea directions for where the pieces fit out the box and starts to lean in a little.
Janis stifles a laugh, "That was kind of cheesy." It's obviously forgiven, as she's leaning towards him, not waiting. She kisses him soundly, no longer nervous or thinking he's just doing this to shut her up.
Hey! It worked again! He was almost doubting that it would be so easy, that he'd be able to just... kiss her like this. That it would be this natural thing that could just happen. It made him grateful. Rubbing at her shoulders, David holds her close, taking the moment for what its worth and hoping that it will be this easy the next time. And the time after that.
Janis is almost scared with the idea of that Dave might change his mind. At least she knows it would be him trying to look out for her, and not him using her. What if he changes his mind or decides that kissing her is a bad idea? She reaches between them, begins to fiddle with his tie. Something to do, keep her mind off of worrying or ...other things.
His hands slide down the length of her arms until they hit elbow and the fact that her hands are decidedly busy. Dave makes a little noise behind his lips, pulling away for a moment to speak- no wait, one more kiss. Okay, now he's going to- no, no, still kissing. Wait. "You don't like my tie?," he asks against her mouth before his hands make the curve to rest against her hips.
Janis shakes her head as much as she can while so close to his face. She manages to get something out, "Mmno." She tugs on his tie, loosening it. She actually quite likes his tie, likes how he wears his professional attire. Misses his long hair a little.
Oh, she's loosening it! It's getting loose. "I think someone gave it to me," Dave mumbles, holding her close to him, an arm wrapping around her tightly while the other lets a hand meander through her hair. Somewhere, he hears the ridiculous of noting his neckwear considering, but it's actually rather keeping him calm. Casual conversation to neck by.
Janis likes Dave so much she's loosening his tie and not his belt. That makes sense, right? She pulls away to look at him, still holding onto his tie for dear life. Her eyes are heavy lidded and dreamy. She tilts her head, goes about kissing his neck, up to his pulse. Sneaks her hand to rest in his jacket pocket. Dave is like a package, wrapped up so nice she doesn't want to disturb it. A well decorated cake. Or someone she's wanted for years upon years? Yeah, that's probably what she meant.
Casual conversation flies out the window as she fixes him with that look. Suddenly a little breathless, Dave closes his eyes and tips his head into hers, curling his lean frame around her. He isn't used to this, not just yet, wondering whether he'd just wake up or Janis would tell him this had all gone too far and toss him from her room. His heart rate slowly rises and his actions followed suit, hands slipping from her hair, down her back and back to her hip. It could all be over soon, might as well enjoy it while it's here right?
Janis wants to ask him again what she asked him the other night. Instead, she says, "D'you want to sit down?" Her fingertips have released his tie, gently pushing on his chest. Everything is kind of urgent again, isn't it?
The ball is rolling and gaining momentum. Dave nods vigorously, getting out an 'uh huh' before his lips move to her temple and trail down the side of her face. Janis moves him across the room with a simple touch of her fingers like he was wearing greased roller skates. When the back of his knees hit the edge of her mattress (it being a small room with really not too many places for them to go right now), he pulls her down with him, whether to his lap or the bed depends on her balance.
Janis is pulled into his lap. She sits across his knees at first, but then quickly stands and repositions, straddling him. It feels a little forward of her, reminds her of the other night. It's still embarrassing, despite where they are now. But she goes with it, pretty sure he will too. She takes his face in her hands and gives him a firm kiss on the mouth, "David." Another. "David." Her mouth is stretched into the widest smile he's ever seen from her. It looks like it takes an incredible amount of force to pucker her lips to kiss him again. "David." Like she can't believe it.
He's a little at a loss himself here. Which is good, better for the both of them as his brain takes a vacation allowing David to enjoy the moment, kiss her back with the same amount of relish, bury his nose in her neck and enjoy the weight of her in his lap, this wonderful moment with all these little ways to tell him it's real. An arm loops around her waist to pull her close again, the other cradling the back of her neck as she kisses him and smiles that mind-blowing smile that keeps him from saying a thing. His face mirrors hers, just as happy but probably a little more stunned as there was no way he could have conceived of this, sitting on Janis's bed, Janis sitting on him, both of them sober and...
... her dad called a moment ago to ask if they were sleeping together didn't he?
...OHHHH Dave didn't want to think about that! As a cover he pulls her to his mouth to distract himself with something more pleasant. "Janis...."
Janis is trying to repress this goofy grin. "You told me to ask again when I was sober. So... could we ever?" Try and take her seriously, despite the fact that she's giggling nervously. Her hands drop from his face to his shoulders, continue traveling to his waistband, yanking up on his shirt to untuck it. Forget not wanting to disturb that nicely wrapped present. Screw not being frantic.
Dave nods into her neck, pausing to nibble a bit on her ear before mumbling breathlessly, wiggling slightly as she gets his shirt untucked, "Uh huh! I think this can be arranged-"
A pause. He pulls back to look at her face directly with an expression normally reserved for children being told they're taking an unexpected trip to Disneyland. "You- you mean, like now?"
"Why not now?" Janis has waited forever! Well, not exactly. She's not been saving herself for Dave or anything, folks. To prove that she means now, Janis goes to grab her shirt now, yanking it up over her head.
So when her cell phone rings, a loud chirp accompanied by the even louder sound of it vibrating nearly off her desk, she tries to ignore it. She's sitting in Dave's lap in her bra. Now is not the time! "Uh, ignore it."
That settles it then. The Hulk doesn't tear his seams, this time it's David as he peels himself out of his jacket and flings it and his tie as far from himself as possible, as if the clothes could crawl back onto him at any moment. Janis's shirt came off just like that and he's got all these buttons to ignore as there are much more pressing things right now, like getting to Janis. Lips nip at her collarbone as his heart races-
His heart races. Swallowing hard, Dave tries to ignore it as something puts pressure on his eyes, closing them tightly as a hand slips down to Janis's rump and oh, this is so nice, they should have done this a long time ago and his chest feels a little tight- oh no. No no no no, not now! With a bit of a squeak, David stops to gulp out a "Janis!" as the phone rings and startles him further, causing him to clutch on to her like a vice before he gets himself to a manageable point. Or so he hopes. "Janis! Oh no no no no no no...," he sighs.
Janis starts to say something that sounds like 'ow,' but stops herself. It's one of those situations where it didn't really hurt but your brain has you make that noise anyway. She doesn't want Dave to think he hurt her. To try and comfort him, she puts a hand on the back of his head and pulls him to her chest. Oh, right, she's without a shirt. Even better. "Shh, it's just my phone." Please let that be the only reason he's freaking out.
The phone's vibration function causes it to jiggle off her desk and onto the floor. Jarring the speakerphone button, flipping the front of the phone open, her father's voice echoing across the room, "Janis?"
Oh, great.
He felt Janis flinch, just for a moment, as his breath came labored, the world moving a little fast there without him. His head fell back before Janis was already soothing it over, holding him to her chest which just gave him enough energy to roll them back onto the bed. He could do this, he could do this, please don't let it come to that, just take a moment, kiss her-
And then he heard the voice.
Dave jerks up, elbows locking to look down as he frantically whispers, "Your father doesn't have cosmic awareness anymore, does he??"
Janis doesn't whisper or hiss. Very plainly, with a touch of incredibly annoyed and slightly embarrassed, "It would seem that way, wouldn't it?" She scoots a little to the side, reaching off the bed, fingertips just barely pulling the phone to her hand. Raising the phone to her ear, "Hiiii daddy, I dropped the phone." Christ, she feels like she's sixteen again. She's an adult! So is David! If they wanted to get naked together, it's none of her father's business-- she switches the speakerphone off, but Dave's so close he can hear Rick ask, "You dropped it?" Janis holds one finger to her lips. Shh, Dave. Or Uncle Rick's gonna think you're a liar who's banging his daughter. Stirring conversationalist she is right now, she replies, "Yeah."
Dave hangs head head right into Janis's cleavage.
His heart is hammering into his rib cage so hard it sort of hurts and the fact that he can still hear Uncle Rick (UNCLE RICK GOD THIS IS LIKE INCEST OR SOMETHING!) isn't helping. He just holds on and hopes for the best. Calm down down, Dave, just.. calm down. But not too much! Just- oh God.
Rick seems unconcerned with the Great Cell Dropping of Now. A lot more cheerful to Janis than he was to Dave, "Oh man, I found some really great stuff in the garage, you kids are going to love it--" Janis cuts him off, "Hey, can I call you back in like..." She looks at Dave for a good answer.
Dave looks up, horrified. And... maybe a little unwell. Don't play with him, Janis! Mouth open, he can't even think of an answer. Four days from now, wench!
Janis grins, quickly cuts her dad off before he asks WHY. "A while, can I call you back in a while? Something came up." Oh god, why did she word it that way. Now she's giggling, face red, "I knocked over a glass and I made a mess and --" "Are you drunk?" "NO I'm not drunk it's the middle of the day! I'll call you back in a bit." Janis quickly hangs up, tosses the phone away. She looks at Dave, biting her lip, cheeks red.
He could be suffering a heart attack right now and he'd have no idea. It'd be like one of those terrible things that comes across an rss feed on the computer: death during sex. Dave slumps back down again, closing his eyes because they feel like they're just about to pop out of his skull. Oh, oh God...
Head tipped to one side, he can hear Janis's heart, which is a lot nicer than the thundering of his own in his ears. He can concentrate on that, just close his eyes, breathe her in, try and rewind back to just a few moments ago, before Uncle Rick (OH DON'T THINK ABOUT THAT!)- before the phone call. Janis laughs and sort of bounces him a bit.
"I'm exhausted," he mutters under his breath.
"Now we just need Jack to barge in, maybe bringing your mom with him?" Janis strokes his hair, speaks softly. She feels kind of exposed now, a little silly. This will get easier, won't it? "...So?" She's suddenly very aware of where her legs are at. She moves them a little, kicks her shoes off with her toes. Shyly rubs her foot against the back of his leg.
"Ohhh don't say that," he sighs, protesting weakly. She's helping, she's helping. Curling his head up, he buries his nose in her neck, breathing her in. That's soothing in and of itself, so he's able to get a handle on his brain, the pressure against his eyes slipping away, his heart finding some better rhythm to beat to. Janis helps. Slowly, he opens his eyes to the red of her hair and the color of her skin in his shadow. This could be it, this could be his tiny little world right here and he'd be a better man for it.
He kisses her very gently against her jaw. "I love you, you know that, right?"
Janis closes her eyes, sighing deeply, like she forgot to breathe. "I know that." She knows it now, as of today. Wishful thinking up until then. Words want to escape, tell him she's loved him for a long time now. Didn't really seem like something she needed to tell him until recently. Nothing comes out, she's fascinated at the way his body fits against hers.
"Good," David whispers and stretches a bit, shifting from laying on top of her to fitting in next to her, legs still entangled. His shoes are still on; in fact, he's still mostly clothed, something he's resenting quite a bit. But he can't move, still a little put off from a moment before and still a little too enamored of this moment to be thinking of anything else. Arms adjust, one under her head and the other stretched out across his bare stomach, thumb sliding lazily tracing a line below her bra, the tip slipping along the cup on each pass.
A kiss to her cheek, the corner of her mouth, David looks at her for a moment, saying nothing.
Janis places her hand on his neck, "I love you. So much. Do you know that?" Don't forget it! Janis realizes why she felt the need to bring this up only as of recently. If something bad were to happen to him, because of his panic attacks... because of the Hulk, she wanted him to know. It worked out pretty good, apparently. Her mind starts to wander to what would have happened if this was a earlier time. Would it have been right, then? Did this only work out because it happened right now? Because of his panic attacks?
Her other hand is timidly tugging on the buttons of his shirt. Is this really going to happen? Does her dad still have that damn cosmic awareness, waiting on the other end of the phone to call back? Someone going to knock on her door? Something bad always happens. Is something good really going to happen?
David kisses her and keeps kissing her, replacing the words but not the movement of his mouth. Everything's slower than it was before, urgency put on the back burner as Janis fiddles with the buttons he's forgotten and his hand moves up to cup and caress. Sturdy suiting slides up against her knee as his legs move, tangling up a bit more with hers.
He should really take this slow, watch himself and try and keep things easy lest he find himself clutching his chest and a familiar shade of green. Responsibility comes and weighs in on his thoughts, but Dave really can't be disappointed. I mean, it's Janis. This is her, all of her, and she loves him.
"Is this in the way?" Janis leans forward, arm disappearing behind her back. Then there's that magical movement of unhooking a bra with one hand. She doesn't remove it, restrains herself from rushing. And as much as she doesn't want to say it, "Just ... let me know if you we need to stop." He's radioactive, oh God he's the Hulk-- no, he's David Samson and she should just focus on removing her clothes. Stay cool, Janis, you're supposed to be the stable one.
"Isn't that supposed to be my line?," he asks her chin, lips trailing from hers to make their way along the hollow of her throat. Though the buttons aren't really all that taken care of, twisting free the buttons of his cuffs can get him enough leverage to pull his dress shirt over his head leaving him in an undershirt and cursing the formality of his attire. He is way too professional for this, he feels overdressed; if he have known he would have handled his briefs in a pair of pajama pants and socks. But how was he supposed to know all of this would fall into place like this? That it seemingly ... works. Just like that.
Jack's going to be insufferable. Why is he thinking about Jack!?
"I'm nervous," he admits to her clavicle.
Janis arches, sighing happily at Dave's lips on her throat and collarbone. She attempts to encourage him by slipping her hands under his shirt, up over his ribcage. She's nervous too, yet she still asks, "Why?"
Why? "Because this- ... you are the best thing to happen to me in a long time," Dave whispers against her skin. Fingers pull at the strap of her bra and ease it down, hips edge up over hers.
Janis makes another tiny, happy sound. "Then don't be nervous. It's just me. I want this, do you want this?" Janis reaches down and bunches the material of her skirt into her hand, hiking it up and to the side, out of the way. Her legs move to allow him to lay against her, hips arch up to meet his.
The way she moves against him, if Janis didn't know David wanted this, she'd feel it soon enough. The arch of her hips causes him to moan quietly against her breast before his mouth is put to other pursuits; for once, he really doesn't want to talk this out. The more he thinks about this, thinks about the repercussions, the strangeness, even how much he desperately wants this moment above all others, the more he could talk himself out of it. The more he could say something wrong. The more it could slip away from him.
So Dave acts; legs nudge her knees apart to rest comfortably between them, hands pull at the bra to free more skin before finding his belt buckle to unfasten it. It's rough, somewhere between urgency and not too urgent, a bit of a balancing act that's so worth it. She is so worth it...
Janis has a problem with laughing when nervous, laughing when happy. She learned pretty early on, you're not supposed to laugh when a guy is pressing up against you. She pushes it back, chewing at her lips, kissing the crown of Dave's head. Janis's hands touch his, attempting to help him with his belt and zipper.
There is just something so sexy about her hand against his as she helps him wrestle down the front of his pants, the feel of her fingers with his spur him on. Pushing himself up, an elbow props him up above her as the other hand gets to his waistband, diving for her mouth, eager for her kiss when....
He stops. He pauses right there, right at that moment and looks at Janis with a half-lidded gaze. "Do you," he pants, "do you have a condom?"
Janis squints her eyes closed. So thankful that Dave remembered, she feels kind of stupid for not even thinking about it. Throes of passion and all that crap. "Oh, um, um." Like she's trying to think of the name of that song she heard on the radio yesterday, or all the names of the Seven fucking Dwarfs. "Somewhere."
She starts to think about the last time she had sex, which is really killing the mood. Janis's ex-boyfriend used to stay over pretty often, so she does own condoms. She thinks maybe she saw some in a box of stuff that once belonged in her nightstand. Mentally berating herself for not getting everything fully unpacked. It looks like her face will stick in a perpetual wince, "Lemme look?"
She thinks that if she can't find any, Dave should just march on over to Jack's room. Har har.
David Samson, Mr. Practical. The twist to her features doesn't give him hope and once again, he takes a break to rest on top of her, letting his head fall against her shoulder. "You're not sure?"
Mind you, if she'd had them right behind the bedpost Dave would be pretty sure this would have been a set up. She feels so good against him he's reluctant to let her go and having her somewhat pinned to the bed allows him the choice of a decision, curling up against her and letting his hands wander along her thighs and hips.
Janis nearly shrieks, giggling and trying to squirm away from him. "Do you want me to go look or not?" Oh, but wouldn't it be nice to just lay here and just do ...whatever. The last thing these two need-- whoa yeah, the mood is being brutally murdered in Janis's mind.
"Oh, yeah, yeah I do, sure," Dave reminds himself before giving her a long and lingering kiss. He nearly forgets what he just agreed to, but pulls himself from her to look around the room. "Where do you think they are?," he asks kind of weakly, starting to wonder if they'd ever find them or if this was the mood killer right here. All that work...
"Oh God," he sighs softly, rolling off to one side.
Janis stands, something like a wry grin on her face. Like Dave isn't even there, she goes about slipping out of her skirt. Quickly ties her hair into a ponytail and dips to sit on the ground. Out of modesty or a chill... or just feeling a little awkward, she wraps a arm around her to cover her breasts. She begins to dig through a box near her bed. "If I knew this was going to happen..."
Dave lies there on his back like a discarded turtle, a little confused and bewildered still. A couple slow breaths, he's able to prop himself up on his elbows and watch her undone. Janis, just sitting around in her underwear, like this was normal, sexily domestic. A sort of husky sound escapes him, followed by a groan as he starts to sit up, a little uncomfortable.
"Should I- I have made an appointment?"
Janis glances back at him for a moment, "If you would have said that you wanted to come over and get my top off, not only would I be a little offended, I'd wonder where the real Dave went." And then she'd probably knee him in the junk.
Sifting though some more of her stuff, she finds a little makeup bag that looks more like an old lady's purse. Instead of being filled with butterscotch candies or whatever, there's a small pack of condoms. "Oh thank freaking Christ they're not expired," followed by nervous laughter. Can you sound any more desperate, Janis?
Dave meets her on the floor and wraps his arms around her, trying to replace her own arm across her breasts. "Mmm, good," he sort of mumbles with a chuckle, kissing at her neck. "Door locked? I mean, people have a bad habit of wandering into mine..."
"People wander into your room?" Janis tilts her head, exposing her neck to Dave. A hint, take it. She leans back against him, moving her arm, allowing him to get as close as he wants. "No one's coming in here. No one's going to call... we have these." Can anything else go wrong?
Dave murmurs against her neck, lips nipping up against her earlobe and taking advantage of the offered expanse of neck. Kneeling behind her, his hands find places to hold and squeeze, the back of his thumb teasing a nipple as he notes, "We should make a checklist."
Janis removes one condom and tosses the bag aside. She clutches it in her hand, suddenly distracted by Dave's hands. "We'll make one later. For next time." Janis buries her face in the hollow of his neck. Twisting at the waist and putting her arms around him in half of a hug.
Dave reaches for Janis and manages to pull her bodily on top of him this time, lying back on the floor. Keeping a hand on her rump, he pushes her up a bit higher, kissing at her throat. "I'll make a note, later, mmf." Was that it? Was that the last interruption, last odd thought that threatened to ruin them both? He wasn't sure he could take another one.
Dave's a lot calmer when there's a mostly naked girl around. Janis makes her own note of that. "Take off your pants already, Samson." Quickly, before something else happens! Before Janis spontaneously combusts, before lighting strikes, before Uncle Rick decides to call back.
"Help me," he whispers to her, probably the best way he's ever had to say that sentence in his life. She's on top of him now, so Dave is well distracted by all the places he could touch and lick, kiss and caress; still, he manages to twist a bit and grab at his pants, shoving them down as he still has a long way to get to get any of this off..
She is kind of pinning him, isn't she? She kisses his temple, his cheek, his nose. "Help you what?" Janis moves to sit beside him while his hands are busy with his pants. "Sit up," tugging at his shirt. It's suddenly imperative that he lose all of his clothes.
The undershirt is the easiest to get off first, the rest a rushed scramble as he wriggles out of his pants, shoes kicked off, shedding quickly. There's no elegant way to do this, the romance a little silly by this point thanks to interruption and Dave's die hard commitment to steel himself against his own nerves. It's just Janis, wonderful, beautiful Janis, she wants this, she wants you of all people...
The moment the last sock is off, Dave's tackled her back to the floor, pressing urgently against her as he collects her shoulders up in his arms. Oh, it's been too long, far far too long... "Bed?," he gasps before covering his mouth with hers, keeping her from answering.
Janis is happy to just have his skin against hers. She clings to him, arms wrapped tightly around his torso. She manages to make a sound like agreeing, confirming, YES. She tries to push him away so she can stand, but her heart's not really in it. Here is fine, if it really came down to it.
Dave gets his arms under her, around her, holding her close and relishing each and every inch of skin against hers. A moan gets caught between the two of them, lips humming against hers before they're moved on to better pursuits. With a strength he's not exactly known for, Dave gets them both off the floor and onto the bed; he lifts her like he could have juggled her, a bowling ball and maybe a flaming torch. Sheets are pulled down, rumpled as Dave kneels between her legs, body stretched out against hers, hands wandering along her thighs.
Janis looks quite impressed. "Gee, Dave." She smiles lazily, trying hard to keep her eyes open. Her mind is relaxed while her body is all tensed up. Her hands slide down his spine, his backside, fingers grip his hips. Her own hips jerk at the touch of his hands on her thighs. Kissing his shoulder and mumbling something that sounds like his name.
He moves like a man possessed, one hand sliding along her arm to take the little wrapped package from her, the other working up between her legs, knowing just where to touch and how much. Just where to kiss and how long. Just how to move against her, taking up the most of the moment, and when to stop and reign himself in. The little package is unwrapped and Dave himself is wrapped up.
Janis squirms beneath him, tiny sounds escaping her mouth like she's trying to stay quiet. She brings her face to match up with his, to look into his eyes. "I love you." It's okay. "I love you." She repeats it because ... she can't think of anything other than that. Not like she's trying, all she can think of right now is Dave and the tiny creepy thoughts of how this could go horribly wrong. Her hips move again, come here, come closer.
Wordless, but not soundless, at first it's enough to be this close, shallow little movements of his hips connecting them together. His arms tucked into her, they lift him up enough to watch her face as he moves, kissing the corners of her mouth as she tell him she loves him. It's all so far from not but what, thirty minutes ago? It's a little hard to take in, to comprehend. All David can do is whisper her name to her and move. "I need you..."
And he does, he needs her more than anything.
Janis wraps her legs around Dave's waist, slowly trying to match his movements. She gazes at him, amazed by what he's saying, how this feels. She brushes her lips against his his, small kisses placed there, trying to slow her breathing. She's gasping, but she manages, "You have me."
David loses himself in the moment, something that might haunt him later when it's dark and he's alone. But for a few quiet (and not so quiet) moments, nothing matters more than Janis Jones.
Janis clings to Dave, seemingly terrified of letting him go. When she starts to close her eyes, she quickly opens them. When she starts to cry out, she brings her mouth to Dave's.
Dave's, who accepts her mouth readily, kisses deep and strong, the kind that steal your breath and leave you dizzy. One hand grabs for her thigh, David lifts her to angle her hips, moving on instinct and impulse. Strange how something that's had so much build up, so much weight and importance on two people's lives can move so quickly, almost quick enough to pass you by.
Muscles tense and relax, he cries out something short and sharp and, in a testament to some unknown reserves of stamina, his breath comes easy, heartbeat steady. Later, he'll just mark this down as one less thing to worry about but for now, David just sinks against Janis.
Janis nuzzles Dave, welcomes him to lay against her. Untangles her legs, releases him from her grip, but still holds onto him. She feels comfortable and safe here with Dave. Not to mention that was fantastic, in her humble opinion. Kind of afraid to move or to speak, as that would make it feel like this is over. It's not over, though. It's the beginning.
Blissfully silent for a bit before she decides to echo his question from earlier, "So, are we cool?" They are so cool. They are like the Fonz.
Dave chuckles, rolling one way and pulling Janis to his side, answering with a murmured little happy sound. He was so calm it was almost surreal; armed guards could have broken in through the window and even thinking about that didn't itch at his brain in the slightest. "If we're not, this was very awkward." He lightly kisses at her temple.
Janis slings an arm over his chest and hooks one leg over his. Getting all comfortable on him, getting up close as possible. "It wasn't awkward, it was... well worth the wait." She rubs her face on his skin, her hips roll every so slightly against his leg. He has her, he really does.
Armed guards and a dinosaur? Nope. Armed guards, a dinosaur and both their parents? No, still calm. Dave looked at Janis as if she were a unicorn, fingers trailing against her side. "Yeah," he agrees quietly. "Yeah, it was." He looks at the door, oh so far away. "I don't think I'm going back to work," he sighs happily.
"You can stay here." Of course he can! "Have a vacation. A little one. We could take a nap, or a shower, read a book. Do that again. You know, whatever." Mixing sexy things in with mundane things, good job. Janis tries to get her grin under control by biting at her lip.
"Yeah," Dave agrees in a dreamy sort of tone. Smiling back at Janis in a contented fashion, he tips her head to his for another kiss as she bites at her lip. "This... wasn't too fast, right?," he tells her and himself. If she said yes, well... he could find a way to be cool with that. Right now he could find a way to be cool with just about anything, just so long as she was here with him.
Janis kisses him and then pauses before speaking, "No." Not completely sure what part he was talking about. "I don't think so. Do you?"
Dave looks at Janis for a long moment, something in the color of his eyes a little darker, but that could just be circumstance. The lighting. Something else. "Janis," he tells her, "right now I can't think about anything else but you." A little sappy but it's the truth and all that's keeping him calm.
"That's good to know." She's so glad she knows now. Janis holds him tight and closes her eyes.
