Log! G3 & Ink
Who: Heath, Gunner, Gabe, & Garrett
What: Nana Emma gives the boys their first mission to save Heath from himself.
When: Early Wednesday morning
Where: Medlab, Heath’s screwed up mind.
Gunner was less than thrilled about their current situation. He had assumed tea meant tea, but Emma had other plans. Reluctantly, Gunner had agreed, his brothers chattering in his head that they wanted to do it. Emma had a misson them, which she informed them of after chastising them for being so brash on the journals. Even though it wasn’t much in the way of chastising them, Emma had made it clear that she wasn’t going to condone such activity out in the open.
After agreeing to disagree about their actions, Emma had told the triplets about the man in the medlab that had gotten a nasty bit of psychic feedback when his power had been disrupted during battle. The three were informed about Heath’s powers and then made their way down to the medlab.
“He’s damaged,” Gunner said, even before they got to the man’s bed. “But not for long,” Gabe assured all three of them. Standing side by side, the boys grew quiet, heads bowing slightly. Suddenly, they were plunged into a maelstrom of activity. Is this sand? Gunner growled, psychic face masks appearing on each of them.
He’s from Australia – probably trying to get back home, Garrett reasoned, surveying the landscape. There’s a dragon up in the sky, he said, pointing up and all three watched the dragon seem to glide, then crash into ocean. A moment later, the dragoon was back up in the same place as before – the motions on a loop.
Let’s find this guy and be done with it, Gabe said finally. No matter what other people wanted to think, the triplets really didn’t like spending too much time in other people’s minds. Theirs were always ordered, without clutter. Chaos was not something the boys even pretended to like.
Trudging through hills of sand, the whirlwind only strengthened until the boys were forced to use their own superior power to break through. In the eye of the storm, sitting on a lounge chair (of all things) Heath had his hands behind his head, watching Marz stumble, crash, and reappear.
“You need to stop,” all three said in unison, Heath looking up at them, eyes weary. “This isn’t where you belong. Emma Frost has told us that we are to remove you willingly or by force.”
“Fuck off!” Heath said, his words heated, throwing a lotus blossom at the triplets. With a wave of their rights hands, the lotus turned to a harmless stone, landing in the sand.
“We tried this the easy way,” all said at once. Gabe and Garrett moved a step back, each behind Gunner slightly. “Now it’s time that we do things the right way,” Gunner finished. Gabe’s left hand and Garrett’s right landed on Gunner’s shoulders. A brilliant light started to shine off of them, eyes glowing just a bit.
“NO! Get out of here! This is my place!” Heath shouted. With a roar from behind them, Marz came flying inland. Twisting around Heath as the man stood, the two merged in the plane of the surfer’s mind.
“Impressive,” they said in unison, small smiles on their faces. “Such potential,” Gunner said, looking at the creature, half man, half dragon towering over them. “But you’re weak, tapped already. You’re a candle, we’re wildfire.”
Dragon!Heath exhaled a shot of fire, the flames taking on a blue-hot color. It washed over the triplets, turning to ice on contact and fracturing a moment later.
Stop teasing him, Gabe chided, Gunner actually sighing. Garrett wouldn’t admit it, but he was nervous. Just a little bit. Fine, Gunner said. His brother’s hands tightened on his shoulders, Gunner’s hand raising toward the dragon. Focusing their power, a beam of white light struck the dragon’s underbelly.
At first, nothing happened, then the light began to creep up the middle, tearing dragon and human apart. Both fell into heaps. But the twins weren’t down. Looking up, the white light washed over the landscape, turning it white – pristine and clean. The sand was still there, dark yellow turned to ivory-colored grains. Their power cleaned the the sky, the storm died down. Heads move back down, watching Heath as he struggled to stand up.
“You aren’t weak. Quit hiding. Only cowards deserve to lose themselves, and Emma believes you are more than that. Prove her right. We won’t be back,” Gunner said. With a blinding flash of light, the boys found themselves back in the medlab, standing over Heath. The patient’s eyes were fluttering, mouth opening as if he were trying to speak.
“I’m hungry,” Garret said, breaking the silence. “Same,” Gunner said, Gabe nodded. As quickly as they had come, the boys turned on their heels and headed out, knowing that Heath had some stuff to deal with, but at least he wasn’t lost anymore.
