Who: Ryan and Wes What: Wes is all beat up, Ryan is keeping him company, and they discuss what has happened, and what's next. When: after the teams got back, before Duckie fixed up Wes Where: Medical Labs
Wes was a mess.. save his face. He was wrapped up and laying there stiffly. He'd woken up a few times when he was getting wrapped up awaiting Duckie and her magic blood. But now he gasped from a dream, eyes wide looking over at his brother sitting by him.
"Shit.... We lost, didn't we?"
"What's this 'we' business. You, you lost. Big time." Was teasing (or was it mocking?) the injured an okay thing to do? Probably not, but Ry had been worried sick, and now he was glad Wes was okay. And kind of annoyed at Wes, as if getting hurt had been Wes' fault somehow. He was also a little annoyed at Dave, he got the Hulk thing, he did, but he was still kind of annoyed.
"They had to -- Okay I was going to say amputate a finger, but that's not funny. No we didn't lose."
"Holy shit. It hurts to breathe, man. Janis OK?" Wes winced a bit. "And no, that is not funny. Buy a sense of humor, would ya?"
Ryan frowned when Wes winced, and glanced around for some doctor-y-McCoy like figure. Not seeing any of them he turned back to Wes, frown still on his face. "Janis is okay." Presumably, he didn't actually know where she was, but Emma and Sean weren't sound the alarm, so he classified her as okay. "Make you a deal, I buy a sense of humor, you buy a clue."
Oh Wes got that one all right. "Hey! It's called harmless flirting. Janis is cute! and I was barely working it then." He frowned. Ow... "Tell me Duckie's coming soon. This sucks."
"It's called it was the middle of a battle, Jesus, Wes." You know, Ry gets the whole flirting thing, and Wes need to flirt, and can acknowledge that Janis is cute. But it was a battle! There is a time and a place, and that was not the time nor the place. Actually, if Wes wasn't lying here in a bed, saying things like 'ow', Ryan would probably be a lot more okay with what had happened.
He leaned back in his chair, and than tittled the chair back a bit, trying to see more of the medlabs. He didn't see Duckie around, and informed Wes of that fact. In other words you get to lie there in pain Wes, and be kept company by cranky Ryan.
"I'll have you know I had no idea Dave was going to freaking Hulk out and toss me away like a used toothpick, OK? But believe me, I'm staying away, now." Ow... again. Wince. "I had a spell I was going to work for the guy too. Was going to ask you to do it too. It was a disguise/illusion one. Mom used to do it for his Mom."
Wes had researched it and was really excited to try it too. Probably still will.
"You had a spell?" Ryan leaned forward in his chair, looking interested despite himself. "You had a spell, or you have one?" Because while Ryan understood that maybe helping Dave wasn't on the top of Wes to do list, he was interested.
Wes would have sat up, but his lips curled an excited smile. "I have one... it's pretty sweet, Ry." He was feeling better with his brother getting excited about magic again. "It uses stuff we've tinkered with before, but a little added extra."
"Your waiting until your okay before attempting anything." That was a statement of fact as far as Ryan was concerned, not a request. "And what kind of extra, nothing from ... the book right? And please, please tell me it doesn't involve some sort of plant that has to be picked at midnight . . . " Ryan was never, ever going to get over the fact that one time he had picked poison ivy, instead of the plant that a spell had called for. Shortly after that, Ryan had declared he wanted nothing to do with spells that required anything other than sheer will power.
He had itched for days because of that damn plant. He absently scratched at his arm, as he waited for Wes' response.
Honestly, Ryan was just glad to see Wes excited about something that wasn't a girl. He liked Janis, but if Wes being . . . well, Wes-like with Janis, resulted in this? Well yeah, Ryan was going to be all "lets do magic!".
Wes liked Janis. Wes liked May. Wes liked Sarah. Wes liked lots of women here. They were all nice to look at and hot and could kick butt - a good turn on. But none of them held a candle to magik. It was his bane of existence, really. Well, actually, them PLUS magik would kick some ass....
Anyhow...
"No, no weird plants... we're actually going to need to enchant the ingredients for the enchantment... Cool, huh? And it's perfect with my power because some of the ingredients need to be moving." As Wes spoke, he looked at the straw and cup of water. "Hey... last time I tried to animate this, I got water on my face... you mind?" Feed me, brother.
Ryan frowns at the idea of having to enchant ingredients for the spell ... but well, they'll cross that bridge wen they get to it. "Need to be moving? Is this going to be one of those complicated things, that ends up with peoples belongings in the lake?" There had just been a sudden bout of weirdness around here -- not caused by them, but still. Ryan didn't want to go and cause more weirdness.
However, all this was just talk right now, and no harm in that.
"You are so sad." Said as he picked up the cup of water and the straw and held it out.
Wes gave his best pity look at his twin before he took a sip. After his finished, he said, "So, how should we deal with Dave now? Other than staying the hell away from flirting with Janis?"
"We should kick his ass ..." Ryan said this with a grin, because it was a joke, honest it was a joke. Ryan had no desire to try and take on Hulk Jr. Who knew who would walk away from that fight, and who would crawl. Actually, he knew who would crawl away if Hulk Jr was in a good mood. He shrugged his shoulders, yes he was kind of upset about the whole thing, but this type of shit happened when you palled around with super people.
"When he shows up again, offer to cast the spell?" Because the Wes beat down was going to be in the past, and why dwell overlong on it? Wes had lived, and since no permanent damage had been done, Ryan didn't have to try and avenge his brother or anything.
Wes listened and would have sort of nodded. "See, I was thinking we should remind him whose on whose side." He said with a bit of bitterness. "I'm going to play this one by ear, Ry. This kinda sucks and hurts, you know?"
Wes' eyes blinked a bit. "Time for me to pass out, Wake me up when my Angel shows up to cure me?"
"All right." As usual, Ryan would follow Wes lead. Ryan did make choices of his own, and had been perfectly capable of doing things when Wes had been going to school, and Ryan had been living at home in Boston, but in the end, Ryan usually followed along with Wes. "You sleep, I'll wake you up." Ryan leaned back in his chair, and sat there ready to wait.
