May 11th - FFVII (Rufus, bandages)

Rufus hated to be sick, to be bandaged, to be in the hospital. It had started when the WEAPON destroyed the Shin-Ra tower and he had been inside; only the various protecting materia and his faithful few had saved his life.
Then the next months had been spent in the hospital, waiting for the bones to mend and learning to walk and shoot again - no fun at all.
A year passed since the Meteor and Rufus took off the last of the bandages. Straightening his back and flashing a perfect smirk he felt strong again. He was once again the powerful and ruthless President.
Secret meetings filled his days with Reeve Tuesti and his World Restoration Organization. The WRO was a joke but it didn't stop people from going to it instead of Shin-Ra; after all reputation was half of the company's worth. Sadly, Shin-Ra didn't have its usual PR manager - Meteor killed a lot -, so their good will wasn't about to improve in the near future. So he stayed in the background and used Reeve to help (and to make some profit if he was honest.)
When Rufus's head ached after a long day he shrugged his shoulders and took a painkiller. When the first black spot appeared he frowned at it. It didn't disappear but swallowed up more and more skin, blackening his legs and shoulders. The rumours of the new sickness reached Rufus's ears, too: Geostigma.
Rufus collapsed the first time the darkness oozed from the wounds with a crippling pain. The bandages came back the next day and he went back into the wheelchair when his legs couldn't hold him for more than ten minutes.
