Chris Carmichael was giddy at the brilliant plan he’d laid out in his head. Alicia was finally free of that idiot, Adrian Pucey. The divorce had been finalized the week prior, despite the fact that the marriage had ended over a year ago. Everyone knew Alicia was never happy with that idiot - so it only made sense for Chris to help her find happiness again. “I’d like to introduce you to Pavak Patil,” he beamed as he practically shoved Alicia in his partner’s direction. Alicia stumbled awkwardly in front of Pavak and bashfully laughed. Pavak had instinctively reached out to catch her. “Chris… I’m pretty sure we’ve met,” Pavak informed. “Yes, multiple times,” Alicia added. “No, no,” Chris corrected, “You’ve met in passing - while both of you were off the market. Now you’re both single… and this,” he pointed his finger between them, “this should happen.” “Oh my, Merlin,” Alicia’s eyes were wide and her jaw clenched at the embarrassing ambush. The look of murder present on her face. Christopher Carmichael cheekily grinned and offered a shrug as he disappeared into the crowd. “Sorry about him,” Pavak offered handing Alicia a newly poured pint. “He’s convinced I’m happier with a woman in my life.” “Funny,” Alicia offered sarcastically, “He apparently thinks I’m terrible at picking my own men.” They both grinned a moment before awkwardly taking sips of their individual drinks. |
