It was a sorry patch job. Even with the help of mending charms and a few glamours, it still looked like someone had hacked it to pieces and then tried to put it back together blindfolded. Sigourney had quietly retreated to the bathroom, succumbing to her promise to herself. She wasn’t going to cry, but when it had become clear she couldn’t fix it on her own, she hadn’t been able to help it. Sure, she didn’t have a date. And she might not have the same sort of experience at the dance that her paired up dormmates would. But she had been planning on going with her friends, on enjoying herself, taking the evening to relax and forget about the fact that OWLs were looming ever present in their future. Now, though, it looked as if Lisa Spinks had finally bested her. Picking up the dress as exhibit A of why she was going to be spending the whole evening hiding in her bed and not at the dance with her friends like she’d planned, Sigourney headed slowly downstairs. Still dressed in her school robes, ignoring the various individuals milling about around her dressed in their formal wear, she made her way to the small alcove that she, Shiloh, MK, and Leanne had agreed to meet up in before heading to the Great Hall. If she was going to not go, she was going to explain. She wasn’t one to leave her friends hanging. MK had spotted Sigourney over Leanne’s shoulder and immediately became serious, despite the comment of a durmstrang blokes backside. “Sig, whats wrong? Why aren't you dressed?” she asked giving a glance to the dress in the other girl’s hand. While making sure her makeup was smudged enough to seem like she didn’t care, Shiloh snorted at the remark regarding the durmstrang arse. She looked up in sudden silence at MK’s tone, pushing herself up from the floor of their meeting-alcove, and sighted the subject. Her face creased in several places and she stepped next to her friends, “What the hell happened?” “Spinks,” Sigourney said softly as she approached the two of them, silently holding out the dress for them to see. The top was somewhat pristine, but the lower half was a mismatch of cuts mended together crooked and tangled and showing threads from where they’d originally been shredded. “I don’t think I’m going… I tried to fix it, but I can’t… I can’t go in this. People are horrible enough as it is.” Leanne Pucey took the dress and held it up to better assess the damage. “What happened exactly?” the girl asked. “Lisa. She diffindo’d it. On purpose,” Sigourney said, wrapping her arms around herself as she looked down at the floor. “I should have stopped her, but I didn’t expect her to actually do it. It’s fine. I’ve got to clean up anyway. She dumped everything out of my trunk on the floor and tipped out most of the wardrobe looking for it.” Shiloh took the dress from Leanne, and gave it a thorough scan and shook her head angrily. “What?” Shiloh said, whipping her head up to Sigourney’s answer. “Firstly, you can wear whatever you want,” Shiloh said, sitting cross-legged on the floor and spreading the dress in her lap to see the damage. She tried a bit of repair of what had already been patched, her face nearly buried in it. “And secondly,” she said, raising a finger, “she’s an arsehole and she can’t win.” Shiloh continued to turn the dress over in her lap. “Shy’s right….” MK nodded. “Because I’m going to kill her.” Her foot lifted and off came a heel, and then another. “Who’s she going with?” Leanne properly answered, “Andrew Gudgeon, but I really think we need to plan this before--” MK didnt wait… she handed Sigourney her shoes and started toward the Great Hall at a walking pace that meant trouble. “Leanne,” Shiloh said at her request, but was on MK’s side - completely, “this in an unplannable event.” Finally pulling her face from Sig’s nearly passably repaired dress, she shot up, grabbed the shoes from Sigourney’s hands, handed her the dress, and motioned her to put it on. “I’ll guard you in the alcove,” she offered in a rush, anxious to follow MK to see what she would do and, obviously, join in. “Go go go, Sig.” Sigourney wasn’t really sure how she felt about getting dressed in the hall. Sure, they were somewhat isolated in this corner, but they were still very much out in the open. But as she was encouraged, and there was the looming threat of allowing MK to be on her own for too long without supervision or, well, back up, she didn’t argue. The change was as quick as she could make it, kicking her clothes underneath the corner bench to be retrieved later before raising a hand to wipe off her face. She really was lucky she didn’t wear makeup 90% of the time, or she would have been even more of a mess right now. “We should probably go keep MK from literally killing her,” Sig said, feeling a little bit better already. Even if it wasn’t exactly how she imagined the night going, it was about par for the course for them. No need for backup, MK made her way through the halls asking anyone who might have been relevant to ask if they’d seen Andrew Gudgeon. Because let's face it, cum guzzlers like Lisa Spinks were the sort to hover around their men like a beast to prey. Finally after a few assisted directions she made her way through the dress robes and clusters of people waiting to get into the Great Hall to a courtyard of the same gatherings. Shiloh had grabbed both Sigourney and Leanne by the arm and started a trot to catch up with MK. She had made sure to keep her eyes peeled for the familiar shit-eating face of Lisa Spinks. She actually didn’t know her too well, but she knew enough. Shiloh gasped and laughed at the sight in front of her. With no warning MK O’Flaherty grabbed Lisa Spinks by the hair with one hand and the back of her dress with another. She yanked Lisa backwards toward the ground. The Ravenclaw immediately let out a horrible scream. The crowd let out a rumbling collective of “Woah!” and “Holy shit!” For a split second Lisa’s date and the friends that surrounded her stared in shock. Breathing heavily MK straightened her posture and loomed over the target. Wand drawn and aimed. “What the fuck, O'Flaherty?” Andrew exclaimed, even if he made no move to help Lisa in any capacity. “What in the hell are you doing?” “Back the fuck up,” MK answered with a quick point of her wand to the boy and when he immediately lifted his hands in surrender she pointed it back at Lisa. Marietta, Julianna and their dates stared wide eyed at the spectacle, but backed up just the same.. “Andrew, don’t just stand there. Get this psycho bitch away from me,,” Lisa pleaded, lifting a hand to protect her face as she tried to scramble away - MK moved to make an escape impossible. “Her and her batshit friends. They’ve all got it out for me!” “Oh, that’s just like you, isn’t it, Lisa?” Sigourney accused, her voice hardened as she glared at the girl on the floor. As much as she said that they should stop MK, there was a small part of her that didn’t really want to her intervene. “You try and make yourself out to be the victim, like you didn’t do anything at all to bring this on.” Shiloh let go of Sigourney’s arm, letting her confront Lisa. She imagined this is how a mother bird felt when her child learned to fly. Shiloh gave another loud laugh watching Spinks on the floor and Gudgeon standing around doing, basically, nothing. “Yeah, I’m not sure we know eachother too well, but I can tell you’re a heinous bitch,” Shiloh added, “it’s something about the face,” she said, motioning to the girl on the floor. She linked an arm into Gudgeon’s and whispered in exaggeration, “I’m sure you’re not the best catch, but really, this is the one you chose?” “Get your arm off my man, you fucking hussy!” Lisa exclaimed, suddenly and rather completely forgetting her current position for the situation that was happening above her. Needless to say, her priorities weren’t exactly well arranged. MK made sure to step in such a way the kept her wand steadily pointed at the Ravenclaw’s pointy noise. “Whoa, Spinks. It was just one date,” Andrew said, holding up a hand. The attacking girls each individually snickered and grinned at the correction. Andrew, who seemed more than pleased with the attention, glanced sideways at Shiloh, gave a half shrug of his shoulder, and flashed a flirtatious grin at Shiloh’s spunk, “It seemed like a good idea at the time.” Shiloh held in a snort, making sure not to let go of his arm. “Yeah, usually you Ravenclaws tend to have better ideas.” “For a Ravenclaw, Andrew, you’re not exactly the brightest,” Sigourney said before shifting her gaze back to Lisa as she walked over to stand behind MK and look down at Lisa as well. “There’s one very simple thing you can do, Lisa, to make all of this go away. Do you think you know what it is?” “Tell the Professors just how fucking insane you all are?” Lisa suggested, not showing any signs of backing down. “Get every single one of you expelled for attacking me? Even if those aren’t the right answers, they’re definitely on my to-do list once you all get the hell away from me.” Shiloh might not have known what Sigourney's intended answer for Lisa was, but she raised a finger in correction,“We haven’t done anything to you. Haven’t gone through your stuff, destroyed your dress, ruined your night…” Shiloh looked at Sig to make sure she was still on her own two feet and nodded at her, “I mean, we could do that last one, but go on, Sigourney,” she waved a hand at her friend. “We could do that second one, too,” Sigourney said, drawing her wand and casting a diffindo down the front of Lisa’s dress, quietly unphased by the slight blossom of blood that formed behind the ripped fabric. “Now. I can just stop at the one, or I could do just as many as you put through my dress. What do you think?” “I’m… I’m bleeding, you psycho!” Lisa exclaimed, blinking down at the massive gash in the front of her dress. Well placed tears starting to flow, “Andrew! Juliana! Marietta! DO SOMETHING!” In that moment Septima Vector unarmed MK and the crowd parted. In that same moment MK pushed Sigourney’s wand hand to her side and stepped back to mask that it was a two-on-one fight. “What is going on here?” the woman’s voice seemed perturbed by the scene. The crowd began to disperse as not to get hit with any sort of trouble. “The attacked me, professor!!” yelled Lisa with free flowing tears. “For NO reason! I was just… I was just standing here!” “Not true,” MK corrected stepping in front of Sigourney, “She ruined Sigourney’s dress I returned the favour.” “Is this true Miss, Spinks?” the teacher asked with a particular disgust in her tone. “No! I ... “ the girl looked at her fellow dorm mates who seemed to advert their eyes. “It….” she hesitated a moment, “It was an accident!” MK spit on Lisa immediately and yelled, “Like fuck it was!” A kick was immediately administered to Lisa Spink’s leg. In one swift motion, Professor Vector took MK by the ear and declared, “50 points each from Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. And detention for the next two week for the pair of you. Miss. O’Flaherty yours can begin now.” As she directed a wincing MK O’Flaherty back into the castle she called to no one in particular, “Someone help Miss. Spinks to the infirmary, please.” As Marietta and Juliana moved to help Lisa up, the sheer smugness on her face was more than Sigourney could take. She knew Lisa thought she’d won because the professor had punished them and not her, and she would never let Sigourney live it down. Sigourney honestly wasn’t sure where the rage came from or what even provoked the reaction. She was pretty sure she even blacked out for a moment because the next thing she knew, her hand was balled into a fist in front of her, and Lisa’s hands were cupped around her bloody nose. “And you’re cleaning up my things when we get back to the dorm!” Sigourney shouted as Marietta and Juliana closed in around Lisa and moved to try and escort her more quickly out of the courtyard. “I think that’s quite enough, Miss Guffy,” Professor Vector snapped at Sigourney’s back as she grabbed her by the ear as well. “I expected better of you.” “Sorry, professor,” Sigourney mumbled as she allowed herself to be dragged, catching MK’s eye at they went. So worth it. |
