Hello hello! This is Lyssa showing up late to her own party, woohoo! I'm your other mod and you can all blame my Steampunk Obsession for this whole mess ;) I'm available for plottage and things on AIM at LyssaChan or on GTalk at lyssachan (or lyssa.hillen if you have a burning need to IM me while I'm at work). On a more personal note, I'm 25 and am assistant store manager of my local Big Name Bookstore which means I keep irregular hours and am about to enter the seventh circle of Retail Hell which includes 6 day workweeks and dickish customers. On the up side: I have no life so any time I don't spend at work is spent in front of the computer.
But enough about me: on to my characters! I've got 2 approved ones right now with another 2 that aren't actually approved yet - though I think they'll probably make the cut and I'm lazy so I'll intro them here as well.
Elisabeth "Lean Lizzie" Braddock is a pirate - an airship pirate. Sorta. She was born all rich and hoity-toity in England, but when she was traveling to the United States with her family, their ship was attacked and she was taken by Pirates to be ransomed. Her psychic abilities manifested and the pirates decided she'd be of more use to them and kept her. She grew up on the ship with them and learned to work on a ship, fight with a sword, shoot a gun and say 'Arr!' These days, she and her crewmates don't pirate - instead they work for Warren Worthington on board his massive airship The Seraph, acting as general security on board the ship.
Anyanka is a vengeance demon. I've taken the classic Buffy Demon concept and blended it with the Supernatural style demons to create something that hopefully works. Anyanka is a demon from Arashmahar who is the patron saint of scorned women. When possessing a mortal host on our plane, she is able to exact vengeance when a woman makes a Wish for it. She's very powerful, but her ability to actually use her power is very limited - and, it should be noted, is mostly going to happen off-panel. When she's not exacting Vengeance, Anya (as she's taken to calling herself) will probably be attempting to understand human culture and generally palling around with other demons like Halfrek and probably Crowley - he's a man, sure, but sexless enough not to count. Expect her not to take too kindly to Hunters and men - and most especially those who are both.
And from the 'not yet approved' pile:
Carol Danvers is an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and she has no powers whatsoever. She was hand-picked by Nick Fury after she was dishonorably discharged by the Army: apparently they didn't take too kindly to 'Carl Danvers' enlisting under false pretenses. Now she serves as a pilot on the SHIELD airship and also as an agent of Fury's, doing espionage work as needed. The fact that she's a woman limits her work in some ways, while also allowing her to go more places and be underestimated.
Kaywinnit Lee Frye (better known as Kaylee) is the mechanic on Serenity - and a damned good one at that. Kaylee has always been able to diagnose problems with machines and figure out how they run and how to make them run better. She's going to be pretty much the same as her canon counterpart and probably wears trousers under her dresses when she goes out in public. Kaylee is eternally optimistic and has been known to be rather amorous as well. She considers the folks on her crew to be like family and she does her best to steer clear of any and all violence that ensues while they're around - guns make her uneasy.
For anyone interested, my CDJ is lyssachars and I am definitely looking forward to all kinds of plot, so please hit me up for some!
(PS: No, the icon is not my way of saying 'give me plot or I shoot you' - whatever would make you think that? *halo*)
