Strongly Locked To Citizens of Fortunas Only

[info]his_honor_mayor
How would you all feel about a quickly organized summer festival? By the first of July, everyone's gardens will be in full swing, our farms prosperous and full of things to enjoy together.

The first weekend in July would be my suggested date, if only to give ourselves enough time to plan and pull things together. Homemade pies, cakes, jams and jellies, breads and pastries. I'll even bring out Grandfather's pickle recipe and we'll have a batch of dills. Any family surprise you've been squirreling away for a special occasion, this is it!

This is for Fortunas only, although if the town is willing, we could invite others, such as the Tse'ka, the Fae, or the children of Pan. Perhaps a celebration can also be a moment to build bridges between ourselves and those we'd like to call allies. But that is done only by your will; if you feel it is proper to be only for us, that is quite fine as well.

I should either start making lists or hiring an assistant. Seems a little unfair to be missing this beautiful weather.

Gerald and Alessandro
Is there still no word about Gena's disappearance?

Jack
Sober?

Papa
Did you still need my assistance?

Demi
I hope you enjoyed your birthday and your gifts.

Fortunas Only (No Pirates)

[info]his_honor_mayor
Miss Foster has resigned from the militia, effective immediately.

Anyone with military service or soldiering in their background, see Gerald or myself. We would like to replace her as soon as possible, within the week is preferable.

Gerald, Jackson, Georgie

The captain made it clear that he expects another of his crew to take Mattie's post. I told him, politely, that I felt guilty taking advantage of his crew, and that we had already begun to search for her replacement. I think in the interim, Jackson should step in, and until he is healed, Gerald and I can rotate responsibility.

I think we should prepare for the Captain to insist, and that's why I would like this deal closed as soon as possible.

Georgie, I know you're quite busy, but I may need to borrow your silver tongue to help me compose a firm yet amiable response.

After recent events and in light of what may come in the future, I have decided to take on an assistant. I will gladly accept applications on those who would like to work with me and the town of Fortunas, helping rebuild her for a better and brighter future.

I am looking for someone with familiarity in architecture as well as structural maintenance. Some savvy in financing and bookkeeping would be preferred but not necessary. Above all else, passion and ambition to succeed and exceed expecations is valued.

Mister Doth
I apologize for my silence. So much has been going on and it seems I rarely have the time to breath, let alone write.

I hope you are doing well in your endeavors and that you reached your ocean.

Mister Bullet
What do you need?

Locked to Fortunas only

[info]his_honor_mayor
Please make certain that your own homes and businesses are repaired before offering aid or comfort to anyone else.

That being said, profiteering and price gouging is frowned upon, and if you are caught, you will spend some time in the town jail. So I would recommend that you not get caught.

I realize certain items and some luxuries may be at a premium for the moment, but do please keep in mind, what you do unto others can and likely will be done unto you.

I will be reaching out to the Captain to inform him that our sympathy is completely with them in the face of their losses, but as we are still attempting to recover from the tidal wave, sympathy is all that we can offer at the moment.

Individuals and merchants are welcome to make whatever deals you like, but consider setting aside a share of goods strictly for the town before offering to aid outside interests.

Strongly Locked To Citizens of Fortunas Only

[info]his_honor_mayor
Over the next few days, one of the things the militia is going to be working on is desensitizing some of our men to the sound of gunfire, and honing their instincts on how to react to it. If you hear random gunshots at untimed intervals, it is all part of the training exercises. There's no need to panic or think we're being attacked. Thank you.

Jackson, Gerald

[info]his_honor_mayor
While the contract itself is available in Town Hall, I made knowledge of the contract for the formation of the militia public.

It is meant to let the rest of Neverland know that we will no longer sit back and accept whatever is thrown our way.

However, I am also aware that certain factions might also take it as a challenge of sorts, and by that I mean both the Treehouse and the pirates.

Jackson, I will not boss you or tell you what to do, but I would ask that you check in with Mattie and see where the patrols are being directed, and to make sure that we're covering as much of the town as possible. Should anyone wish to try our strength, we should be ready. Conversely, if you see that she is actively leaving gaps in our defenses, close them at once.

Gerald, I would ask the same of you, though I'm confident in your abilities. Simply make sure your men know that there is a raised possibility of reprisals coming in the next few days. I don't want everyone on an all-out alert, this is not my meaning. I simply want to be prepared, if you understand what I mean?

What would you say to one or both of you meeting with me at least once a week to keep me apprised of the situation? More often if the need should arise? Whatever would be convenient for you, I am at your disposal.

I also wish to bring up with the two of you a thought that occurred to me when I was speaking to Deacon earlier; Mattie's privileges and responsibilities have been very firmly spelled out, as I see it, which means that if we find her grossly negligent in her duties, or if we find that she is deliberately leaving us open to attack, we can discontinue her employment. If it comes to that, I will handle firing her, as I handled hiring her, and the responsibility will fall solely on me, as will any retribution. But I also feel that there might be honest missteps from all of us in the process, and wouldn't want to wrongly terminate her. So I would suggest a compromise; three mistakes, and then she's out, unless it's such a glaring breach of contract that immediate dismissal is called for, yes? Would the both of you agree to that?

Strongly Locked To Citizens of Fortunas Only

[info]his_honor_mayor
although not intentionally, the Mayor includes Mattie since she will be working for the town. Any other pirate that owns a business in Fortunas will be able to see this message as well. He does not realize he has done this

Once again, we find ourselves victim to an attack that we did not invite. For as long as I an remember--and I can remember quite a bit, actually--we have not had a natural tsunami of this magnitude. Which only means this was done unnaturally, likely by those that inhabit the seas of Neverland.

As a township, we must be strong. We must pull together, mourn our dead, compose a list of those missing and comb the area to find them. There is a great deal of land to cover, though the shores of it belong mostly to our enemies. But we owe it to those remaining to search for any who are lost, if only to return them home for a final and proper rest.

Our victimization must end. We did nothing to invite this attack from the sea-dwellers, and have long tolerated their snatching our men and dragging them into the sea. No longer. Every single person in Fortunas must be aware.

Must be ready to fight. Ever since the Tse'ka attacked our homes, we have played at creating a militia, let political infighting and power-brokering hinder our efforts, but no longer. Miss Mattie Foster has kindly agreed to help out my office and the Sheriff's office in the formation and training of our militia. Any man or woman over the age of sixteen that can bear arms is welcome. If you are willing to learn to protect our homes, then you are welcome.

For those that have lost their homes or been displaced, I am opening the Town Hall as a temporary refuge center, as well as my home, the church, and the school. I am sorry, Miss Ellison, for not notifying you before, but there is no choice. Too many people have been displaced for one center to hold them all, and so all public buildings that are large enough to be used, must be used. I will be going back and forth between the Town Hall and my home, as I have offices both places, and I will be helping Georgiana in compiling a list of destroyed and damaged property.

I realize many of you have lost everything that you own; we will do our best to help you replace the necessaries. However, my first duty is to ensure that everyone has a safe place to sleep, and warm food in their stomachs. I will not ask for donations--I realize that everything you have, you must keep to save your families. I do ask for time and kindness for your fellow townsfolk. If they are injured, help them. If you can spare water, give them a drink. If you have the strength, help them clear, because in turn they will help you.

This is not the time to turn on each other. This is the time that we must unite, stronger than ever, against any outside force that wishes us to become a victim.

I know some of you believe that these things happen to us because we are allies with Captain Oz and his crew. Chances are, you are correct. But we cannot completely blame them for this, not entirely. Have you never had a friend that your parents disapproved of? If we are attacked simply for being friends with "the wrong sort of people," then it isn't their fault; it is the fault of the attackers.

Could or should their attacks have been refined? Of course. But that is done with; the time for questioning and trying to make peace and broker treaties is over. I have been responsible for that myself; I have tried to offer peace and had my hand slapped too many times. Now is the time that we pull together and we fight. Fight against everyone that would hurt us, whether they were once our friends or not.

Fortunas is named for Fortuna, the Roman goddess of luck and justice. Blind, as she can bring both good luck and bad, good fortune and bad. But there is one saying with which I am sure we are all familiar: Fortune favors the brave.

Be brave, Fortunas, and we will come out victorious.

Ferrington House is permanently closed to refugees. Georgiana will be working out of the town hall office if you require assistance.

Before I actually go and line up something I can't pay for, anybody who isn't batshit crazy want to move out of wherever you are? Cause I'd like to move out of the school, but I don't exactly see me being able to afford my own place right now. So I'm looking for a roommate of some sort who basically won't kill me in my sleep and when school starts next fall, won't mind me locked away working on lesson plans and such.

[...] I should look into hiring a personal assistant.

I should really invest in a calendar of some sort.

Seems as if I can't make up my mind today.

Eric Foster and Basil Thornton
I've received something that I'm not too entirely sure of what it is. I'm not sure if it has healing capabilities or if it is meant for self defense. I would appreciate it greatly if either of could lend some expertise on what this might be.

And discretely, please.

Papa and Jack
I love you both. Thank you for the presents.

When are you available for dinner this week?

Sheriff, I have met with Mattie and have outlined with her the basic agreement of what is expected of her, both as far as her duties and the chain of command. We can meet and go over it together, or you can pick up a copy, because I copied it out a second time for you. After you've read over it, you can write up your own agreement, and I'll give her a copy of it, then lastly, Jack and I shall meet together and rough out a contract that is acceptable to the both of you. You'll both sign it, and it shall be filed in the town hall legal documents section.

I suppose with this being my first entry, I should introduce myself. Its really the polite thing to do, regardless if most of you know of my name already. I am Georgiana Ferrington, daughter of Mayor Ferrington and more importantly, head of housing.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped out with the efforts of helping our residents since the winter storm and the Masquerade and those who continue to do so. I know these times are not kind to us at the moment, so I truly do appreciate the help Fortunas as received thus far.

I will be writing later on in the week something a little more formal for any housing needs. Kind of exciting the means of communication will be more open than usual.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Townspeople
And thank you to those who have volunteered for patrols.

[unlocked to all of Neverland]

[info]his_honor_mayor
To Everyone Attending The Masque

Given the snow-storm that recently crippled all of Fortunas, our annual Christmas drive was cancelled. Seeing as how there is probably more need now than ever because of damage from the storm, if you can afford to donate, there will be a box inside the entrance to accept donations of food, warm clothes, or coin. It is not required for entrance, of course, but it would be considered a generous gesture towards your fellow people.

If you are from outside Fortunas proper, feel free to speak to me or leave a note with my office about your needs, and I will see what can be arranged to assist you.

Delivery of donations will occur on Saturday, January the 4th.

Lock to Alexi

[info]his_honor_mayor
in his excitement, the Mayor has no idea this is unlocked. However, after Jack brings it to his attention, the Mayor very carefully mends the lock.

Dear Miss Alexi, I realize that you are probably quite busy at this time of year, but I was hoping to obtain your services for a special project! As usual, I shall be dressing as Father Christmas this year, and both my son and his friend have agreed to assist! For Jackson, I did promise no tights, as he is a grown man, but I was hoping for something candy-striped in the way of pants, and a matching skirt for his lady friend, and then something red and green for the tops, perhaps a nice jacket set for both? And a pair of white gloves for the lady?

If this isn't something you have time for, or something that you don't wish to do, please don't feel obligated! Just tell me what you will need, and you shall have it.

Nicolas
