The wolf has heard the mocking bird sing but he's never listened to the song. To him the song is nothing more than a whisper on a strong wind, a rain drop in a thunderstorm, a pebble in an avalanche. What happens in the trees and above them is insignificant to the wolf. BUT...when the wolf doesn't hear the mocking bird's song, he listen's closely. Does he listen closely because he misses the never ending song? Or because the silence warns the wolf there is an enemy nearby? Most likely the latter. BUT...can it be both?
