Percy sighed and straightened the ruffled pages of his newspaper. He attempted to smooth the creased paper and settled down for a brief look at the property section of the Daily Prophet as he waited for the waitress to come and take his order. He knew there were certain areas in which he needed to keep himself in check – but his love of neatness and order was one he wasn't even going to attempt to change.
He often lunched in the Ministry cafeteria, but today Percy had felt the need to get out. This was partly because he wanted to look at the property section without anyone noticing and asking nosy questions, and partly to get away from the sight of all the Christmas decorations. As far as Percy was concerned they could all come down on Boxing Day and he would be quite happy. All they did was clutter the place up and distract people from their work. But he knew that if he mentioned this, that people would call him miserable (albeit behind his back) so he kept his opinions to himself and avoided the sight of them whenever possible.
There were a few interesting sounding flats in the Prophet, but Percy wasn't entirely sure what he was looking for. He wasn't even sure that moving out was a good idea. It brought back too many bad memories of the last time he had moved out of the Burrow. He had been so angry and self-involved, and yet intensely lonely as well. It wasn't exactly a time in his life that he wanted to revisit. Percy had tried to change, but a small part of him was afraid that if he moved away from his family he would go back to making the same mistakes all over again.
