"This big when I bought it," he declared proudly as he gazed up at the tree. "Biggest one on the lot," he added with a grin. "But I figured why not? The ceiling's high enough for it, so why shouldn't we have the biggest tree on the block?"
He gestured toward the stairs. "Are they even in?" For all he knew, one was working and the other one was out doing his own thing. He supposed he'd find out soon enough; if they made enough noise down here, they were bound to draw down anyone who was upstairs.
