If anything, Kai was only willing to sign it now to get her off his boat before she killed herself. Not that she would kill herself because he did not sign the papers, he rather suspected that Katrina would sooner kill him than kill herself, but because her unsteady stance was bothering him. It had been a long time since someone so ungainly had stood on his vessel and if she had her way, it would be a long time yet before that ever happened again.
He plucked the pen from her hand lightly, his dexterity at odds with his large hands. He uncapped the pen and pressed the papers against the wall that he had been leaning against. After a bit of finagling, he held the pen in the way that he supposed one should, he had never seen a pen like it before, and began signing on the requisite lines. He felt no better after completing his signature. For one it annoyed him because it looked like a fourth grader wrote it and for another it was not relieving to be out in the gene pool again.
Capping the pen and handing both it and the completed papers back to her, he said, "Deserted islands are generally deserted for a reason, because they are inhabitable. If you ever want I can take you out." He smiled fleetingly to himself and chuckled. "Not on this one but on the other vessel we own, it's smaller and much steadier in the water. It's not a yacht but it'a the next best thing."
