Kai could not help but smile slightly at her words, they were insulting but amusing at the same time. He did not appreciate his ship being called a piece of wood, but he could not argue with the fact that it was made of wood. Rather he focused the latter part of her claim. He looked at her, while trying to not seem that he was blatantly checking her out, and decided that he would not mind having someone like her visit on his birthday. Of course, she was here to make sure that it never happened but that did not stop him from thinking about it.
Most of the crew was gone for their day off, and once again they had jokingly taken the boarding walk with them. He offered up a long suffering sigh to whatever mischievous god ruled his crew. Looking back down to Katrina, he smile apologetically while promising to be back in a second. It did not take him long to find their second walk, although it was older and much more worn than the one confiscated by the crew. He came back and locked it in place.
He held out his hand to help her. Looking at her expectantly over his proffered hand he asked, "You said you had the papers?" He did not particularly care to sign them but a free meal was practically worth it. Plus it was something that she wanted to do, rather than be married to him. He was not one to deny a woman what she wanted, no matter how chauvinistic it sounded. His sisters were living proof of that.
