Who: Gil Hatayama, Nana Kimigawa When: Early Afternoon, December 27th, 2048 Where: University Coffee Shop Rating: PG Summary: The perks of being a regular
Gil leaned back against his seat on the waterbus. He looked more like a tourist enjoying the change of scenery instead of a longtime resident as he reached into his briefcase for his digital camera. A few high speed shots of waves hitting the side of the canal and it was returned to its place, he didn't even bother to check to see how they turned out. His stop was up ahead. Gathering his things as the bus pulled into the dock in front of the university. Loathing the to ride further into downtown, he was more than content with student union coffee.
He started the habit of visiting the university's coffee shop over a year ago, stopping in to recharge before sitting in on a panel in the medical department. The shop also had a different feel than Crevasse downtown, perhaps due to the consumer base on any given day than anything else. He knew he could find students lazing about in a booth, gossiping amongst themselves, or acting a fool. Gil also knew he didn't have to worry about networking or running into colleagues, especially one in particular.
His cellphone rang as he approached the small building tucked away between the registrars office and the activity center. Taking one glance at the caller ID, he sighed and put the device to his ear. So much for a day off.
"Dr. Hatayama speaking. Yeah, patch her through." He wandered over to the counter, waving to the baristas as he pulled out his wallet with his free hand. Speaking into the phone again once he heard the click, he tried his best not to sound annoyed. At least it wasn't a call at 3 in the morning. "Hello, is this Kristy? Dr. Hatayama, the physician on call. I hear you're having a bit of trouble..."
