It had taken some cleverness on her part, but she'd pulled it off. In the wee morning hours, Lou'd scampered off to the shelter and carefully picked the lock on the front door. Then she'd made her way to her bosses office, left a short, but quite polite note. The note explained that all of the animals that appeared to be missing were actually not missing at all, but with her. After signing it with plenty of smiley faces, because who can be mad at smiley faces, Lou collected her animals and set off back home.
This meant that she and Beau, and twenty other dogs and cats were now crammed into her tiny living space. Thankfully, it was only temporary. They had to make the stop so she could pick up her signs and blow up the giant balloons she had managed to find. The giant balloons were what made the event in her mind. After that, it was off to the park to get things under way.
Lou set up right in the middle of the park in the very early morning. She was actually one of the first people to arrive, which made things very easy for her. She set up her dog pen and got the cats in their cages, and then she set up the signs and balloons. Everything was set, now she just needed people to come by and adopt her babies.
She'd taken the majority of their hard sells to the park with her. There was Axel, a mutt with three legs. Barney was blind and Kaine was deaf. She had a few cats who had neurological disorders that made them a bit unsteady on their feet, and another one with feline leukemia. To Lou, all of these animals were quite loveable and adoptable, but Lou had a soft heart for the hopeless cases. Not many people were interested in an animal that was going to take extra work, but Lou was hoping that by bringing them here to the park, people would see past their issues and see the loving animal that they truly are. Otherwise, she'd have to get angry.
She sat down in her chair and gave Beau a scratch behind the ears. Today was going to be a good day. She could feel it.
