Saturday, around 12:30 in the afternoon found Key Issacs in his car, cruising up a winding road to a hilltop neighborhood. The windows were rolled down and the sunroof was open, warm sunlight and air scented by the sea below wafting in. Seated next to him in the passenger seat was his wife of what, two weeks or so? If someone had told him only a few short months ago that he would be where he was now, driving around and looking at houses with his wife, he would have laughed in their faces and asked what they were drinking. He had never seriously considered this whole deal, the being married and having to be an adult of all things. It had always seemed like something that would happen years and years later when he was too old to still be picking up hot women. He had always seen marriage as the final straw, the noose that wound around your neck and took years and years to finally strangle you to death and things like this, buying a house in the suburbs and all was the beginning of all that. Frankly he was surprised he had not yet tried to swerve off of the road and down the hill so he could drive straight into the ocean but surprisingly...he had been enjoying himself.
He and been with Dae since that morning, driving around just about all of Innovo looking at the houses she had been deciding on. He had not even bothered to try and look up any places himself, he had figured she would have it all under control and he had not been wrong. She knew what she was doing and he was just going along for the ride and it hadn't been a bad one. Dae was fun, a little stronger than the women he was used to spending his time with but fun all the same. He had not felt like launching himself from this fast moving train to a 'commitment' yet so things were going pretty good so far. Well, except for when he had gone to pick her up and they spent a good ten minutes arguing over who would drive. Key would not like to call himself a push-over but usually, he let things slide but when it came to his car he was not going to budge. It was not that he drove some sleek, expensive sports car and was afraid that she would crash it or something, it was actually just a silver mini-SUV but it was his baby. Only he had ever driven her and that was not going to change. Dae hadn't seemed to happy about that though.
Right now they were following their Realtor to yet another neighborhood, this one situated high above the coast. As they drove they were passing multi-million dollar homes, some towering high above and others sprawling across what looked like acres and each one seeming more beautiful than the last. They were on one side of the road while the ocean was on the other and Key was spending more time staring at them in awe than looking at the road. A car beeping its horn as he slid very slightly into their lane forced him to look away form the houses and back to the road and he spared a moment to return the rather rude gesture he got before moving his hand back to the wheel. They were overreacting, they were going up and the road was narrow, it was not that unexpected that he drifted into the other lane. Now that he had his full attention back on his driving, he noticed he was terribly close to the car in front of him, the Realtor's. She was going so slow though. They were going around what looked to be the last curve before they got to their destination because he could see a sign up ahead. "Welcome to Fairwillow Cove".
He took lifted his foot a bit from where it was pressing hard on the gas pedal and the car slowed. He turned his head to look at Dae with a half incredulous, half amused expression. "You want us to live somewhere called Fairwillow Cove? Are we in our eighties?"
