AMOS DIGGORY, 1948-2006
By Reginald Howard, Reporter
The body of Ministry employee Amos Diggory was found on the steps outside Gringotts bank early Monday morning.
Diggory was taken to the St. Mungo's morgue where officials determined the cause of death to be a heart attack. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement responded by agreeing with their findings and stating they would not be investigating Diggory's death as a homicide, in spite of initial concerns.
Diggory's death was treated as a homicide in the initial hours of the investigation due to the location, where Rodolphus Lestrange, Wilton Themot and Griphook the Goblin's remains were found in 2004 and 2005. Themot
was found murdered there one year and one day prior to Diggory's death. Themot was, of course, named on the same list as Diggory, posted in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley last 12 January. Members of the public have already responded to the morgue's findings with disbelief, believing the similarities to Themot's death could not be
coincidental. At press time, a crowd had gathered in the Ministry's Atrium to protest the findings.
Diggory is perhaps best known as the father of Cedric Diggory, the Hogwarts Triwizard Champion who became the first victim of the second war against You-Know-Who in 1995 at age 17.
