"I've had worse." He promised her, giving her hand a squeeze. It was...nice that she worried about him like that. It made his cheeks turn pink and his insides warm. He'd not had a girl or a friend that worried about him that way, he didn't think. Mostly because his friends were on the team and were expecting him to keep them safe, even at the cost of his own safety. If you take out the beater, there's a bigger chance you'll hit the seeker.
"I know it's not much, but I saw the rose and thought of you." He shrugged his shoulders sheepishly, looking down at the ground. He felt a bit silly now that he'd given it to her. She probably got much more lavish presents from the suitors that were after her, but Stephen couldn't afford that. He'd only ever given her things he'd made before this. He'd gone to a small, kitchy sort of store that had jewelery and womens clothing and the sales girl had helped him pick it out.
Stephen was surprised that she liked it so much that her arms were around him and her lips were brushing against his cheek. He flushed again, pleased. He liked it, and he didn't want her to let go, but soon she did and he didn't get much say about it. "I'm glad you like it. I wanted to find something special to reflect the person receiving it."
Stephen instead of taking her hand again, or offering his arm, wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close to him as he began walking again across the pitch, his fingers toying with her long hair. "It's nice out here... Quiet." He said as they headed towards the middle of the pitch. When he figured they were at the dead centre he looked up and then down at her smiling and pulling his arm away before suddenly sitting down, right in the middle. "Always wanted to do this." He grinned. He tugged her hand to get her to join him and once she looked like she may just, he lay back on the soft grass, staring up at the sky.
