Who:Jake Dorny and Zacharias Smith. When: August 20th, 1998. Evening. Where: Smith Manor --> Wizarding Paris. What: A date – dinner and dancing. Rating: Low for now, will change if needed.
It was a little known fact that Zacharias Smith was something of a romantic. This fact was little known because it wasn’t something obvious, unless one had actually dated him. But he was, when he thought someone was worth it. He was a great many things when he thought someone was worth it, and in his eyes, Jake Dorny most certainly was.
He had arranged with the appropriate department in the Ministry to have a Port Key set up at the Manor for that evening, to take them to a location in Wizarding Paris. Reservations had been made at a very nice restaurant, and he had spoken to a friend he had in France, who told him just the right place to go dancing. The evening was prepared, and he was quite looking forward to it.
Before Jake was to arrive, Zacharias had done himself up, looking rather natty in a pair of tailored and very nicely fitting pinstriped trousers, a white button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows under a dark vest. He had even combed his hair, although it still managed to look artfully disheveled, because much like Zacharias, his hair did what it wanted.
When the doorbell rang at six, he knew precisely who it would be. Zacharias had already warned the House Elves off answering – and his mother as well, as she was home. But Zacharias thought it was still a touch early for meeting the parents type things, plus were he to do that to Jake he’d give him a head’s up first. So it was Zacharias who pulled open the door, grin curling his lips when he saw Jake. Looking as amazing as always, although truly, Jake could have shown up wrapped in burlap and Zacharias would still have thought he looked fantastic.
“Hello, you,” he said, leaning in for a kiss that was affectionate, but not so lingering as that they’d never leave the front door. “The port key’s all ready to go. Paris awaits.”
