Surprise birthdays were always, well, surprising! Cherry was never one to pick out the most extravagant birthday presents but the ones that she did find to give away to the people she loved were filled with meaning and happiness, just as she’d want the person to feel when they got them. Though they were new friends, she found that buying gifts for Augustus was something that needed to happen. He was a man who was so free with his expression and charm that she really found it to be impossible to not think of him when she was alone, her mind often wandering to the places she could find him when he was at work, or even perhaps sitting on the couch at home with the mug she gave him. Out of all of her little daydreams, she always liked the thought of him laying down in bed the most. It may be odd to say that her most coveted thoughts of a man were those of his settling into his blankets, but after going to his flat and picking her mind for colors and patterns, Cherry found the thought of him finally resting his mind in a place of peace was perhaps the most alluring thought of them all.
So there she was: her day off spent in the kitchen with four recipes, an apron and the dress she loved the most, all for one Augustus Pye. It was his day and that made her nervous but thrilled all at the same time. She was incredibly surprised when he agreed to her cooking him dinner and it made her day power by faster; there was not nearly enough time for her to make the food that she had dreamed up the night before and had to settle for making pasta and a very simple birthday cake. She was really hoping that he wouldn't be disappointed- she wasn't the best cook on earth and to be quite honest, it wasn't her strongest gift that she could give but Cherry really, really hoped that he would like it. If not? They'd go out for dinner on her and she would find a way to save the evening from disaster.
Even as the moments wound down for him to come over, Cherry was running around her flat like a chicken with it's head cut off. It wasn't dirty, things were just out of place and she couldn't have him coming into her home with a bunch of stuff everywhere. She got to quick work with her wand and made sure that everything had a home. She was likely to start scrubbing the kitchen counters and check on the cake when she heard a knock on her door. With an excited gasp and a nerdy grin, Cherry raced to the door and opened it with ease, her brown eyes shining in delight. "Augustus!" Her grin was growing across her face and without thinking, she wrapped her arms around him in an openly affectionate hug. "I am so happy to see you!"
