“We’ll see,” Zacharias tossed back in a cocky sort of manner, with a grin on his face. If Jake gave him a good run for his money as far as pool was concerned, well, all the more fun. He did, after all, like challenges in life.
The forest was lovely, with a heavy leafy overlay, rays of sun breaking through here and there to send dappled light to the forest floor. “Except not forbidden,” he said with a chuckle, fingers curled into the reins in a loose manner as Ransom took to the well known trails. “And no gingerbread houses either – that I’ve ever seen.”
He liked this, being able to ride along side of Jake, who seemed equally comfortable on horseback. There was a sense of rightness to it, a sort of natural ease that he appreciated. He slowed Ransom a bit, letting Jake and Spoiler fall near into step, since the trail was wide enough. “Hard to believe it’s only a little over three weeks until school begins again.”
