Concentrating hard on the vase before him, Archie scribbled in the small note book in his hand. He had been called into work early to deal with several cursed objects from an auror raid on a house and the vase before him was one of those items. Walking in a circle around the vase, which was stood on a pedestal in the middle of a room below Gringotts, Archie muttered softly to himself.
He had removed one layer of curses in not much time at all, but the second layer was proving rather difficult to work out. It seemed that the owner of the vase had altered the curse slightly in some way. Looking down at his notes Archie made a decision on what steps to take next. Pulling his wand from his pocket, Archie began to recite a counter curse, he was concentrating so much on getting the words right he didn’t notice the slight glow from the inside of the vase.
With a sudden flash the vase set alight, tendrils of fire almost shooting from it as it did. With a yelp Archie leapt backwards, but not before a tendril of fire struck his arm, setting his shirt on fire. Without thinking Archie used his non-wand hand to bat at the flames in an effort to put them out, forgetting that he was in fact a wizard. Realising he was hitting his arm with his wand at the same time as he tried to put the flames out with his hand, Archie quickly cast Augumenti at his arm, putting out the flames.
Gritting his teeth he made his way to the door of the little room and pushed it open, leaning against the door frame. “Can I get a Medi-Wizard? I think I need a big band aid!” He called, sending a set of red sparks down the corridor to get one of the Goblins or another curse breakers attention.
