Who: Ben Fenwick and Kate Fenwick. When: July 28th, 1998. Lunchtime. (Pre-Ben's date!) Where: The Fenwick family home. What: Ben goes home to mooch food, hang out with his sister, talk about his date, ETC. Rating: Low.
Ben had looked into his fridge and made a startling discovery. It was empty. Which, given how much time he had spent at St. Mungo's recently, and not at places like, say, the grocery store, it wasn't really a surprise. But still. There was not a lot of could make for lunch out an apple, a bottle of mustard and some cheese that probably wasn't supposed to have green patches.
Fortunately, he knew where there was a fridge that was always stocked - at home. Ben made trips home often, both to see Kate and his Mum and Grandmum (and Nathan when he was also mooching food and stopping home) and also to eat home cooking. So, decisions for lunch were made. Even though he was pretty sure that his Grandmum had some sort of Ladies Exploding Snap club meeting (or maybe it was bridge. Hearts?) that afternoon and wouldn't be there, there was sure to be leftovers. And oh yes, his sister as well.
Ben headed out to the nearby Floo station and Flooed home, stepping out and dusting floo powder off the jeans and faded blue t-shirt he was wearing (it wasn't often he got to look totally casual to the degree of nearly slovenly!). "Hello!" he called out cheerfully to alert the house of his presence. He was not sure - never sure - if his Mum would be up and about, or tucked away in her room in one of her deepest pits of depression.
"Katie?" he called out, hoping that his sister was there, as he made his way into the kitchen to raid the fridge. He pulled it open, bathing himself in the cool air from inside, and scanned the contents. Oooh. Leftovers.
