It was odd, but at that moment while the world seemingly came far more complex then it had ever been for him in so many ways, things became the clearest for him. This was about as perfect as things could be for him. It was hardly as though Daphne was a stranger to him, they had been friends far longer than anyone else in his life. They knew each other, and more importantly, they had always stuck beside each other, through thick and thin. Even when the school tried to pull them in different directions, they had always been Daphne and Ernie. As such, at that moment he could not imagine anyone else that he would rather have been embarking on this terrifying chapter of life with.
Hearing her refer to the child as theirs, he laughed, and shook his head, somewhat in disbelief at all of it. “Well, I think it's safe to say that if they are devastatingly charming, that it is my child” he teased playfully back at her, pointing fun at her reputation at school as being somewhat bristly if you did not know her.
Bringing her hands to his face, he pressed a kiss to her palms before nodding his head. “I really am, truly happy about this all, I swear” he reassured her, unsure of how else he could tell her at this time. “If there is one thing I’ve learnt about babies, its that you can never really plan them. They happen when they want to happen. This is our time.”
