Highly unlikely, since Gabe had followed her in here specifically. Not into the library - he'd already been in here, sifting through the available texts making reference to thermodynamics so he didn't set something the students had no chance of answering (again - though he had to hand it to his fourth years, they were damn handy in the area of pure conjecture). He'd also, sort of as an ancillary add-on to his actual task, been distracting William from the boring business of evening librarianship, but as was so often the case, sometimes it got the better of him. William had gone off to scold third-years, which was why Gabe had been looking up the main aisle in the first place to see Victoria duck through on her way to the Restricted Section.
Where he'd followed her, after reshelving (most of) his books, for a very, very important purpose. Which wasn't going to be deflected by her pointed ignore. Gabe leaned a shoulder against the shelf next to the one she was plundering, folded his arms, and said, "So, Professor Asher. Looking to snake my job?"
He couldn't help his grin. Come on, it was a genius line.
