"Perhaps I should publish," William remarked, taking over the seat Lazzara had vacated and appropriating Gabe's copy of the newspaper. "The concerned parents of Britain's next generation of magical troublemakers seem to have forgotten already."
It probably wouldn't matter in the slightest whether Gabe's war veteran accolades became public record or not. Any population of individuals tended toward an 'us or them' mentality to protect themselves, and small communities were worse than large ones. Gabe was a foreigner, and that would be the only thing that counted.
Even so. "You won't be the first head on the block, if it comes to it," William murmured, reading through the key points in the article's argument. "Half the staff are American, several are teaching classes they're not qualified to oversee, and there's a Dark creature patrolling the hallways." He glanced in the direction of Lazzara and Way before looking away again. "Auror Way will be a target as soon as enough kids write home about New Year's. The only reason he isn't already is because those who were here at the time were the ones who didn't have a home to go to."
