"Professor Nolan," Z said politely. She'd been hoping she's only have to deal with him in class. She still wasn't impressed with his actions on Monday.
"Sometimes the younger students are a bit overwhelming and I like to take some time for myself," Z said explaining her appearance in the classroom. Slightly hesitantly, she headed towards Nolan's desk. It'd be less awkward to join him than to sit in her usual seat. He still seemed a bit confused about her presence and-oooh, he probably didn't know the deals she's worked out with the Headmaster and last Arithmancy professor. Or much of anything-he was still so new.
"I'm one of the older returning students," Z said, taking a seat and putting the plate with her lunch down. "Hogwarts closed right after I sat my OWLs. I finished school in the US but, well, my credentials aren't quite what most employers in Great Britain are looking for. So I'm back to sit my NEWTs." She took a bite of sandwich and continued.
"Apparently," she drawled. "It's unusual for students to take my particular combination of NEWTs-everything conflicted and in order to get in all of Defense, Potions and Charms classes in without getting a time-turner, sacrifices in my best subjects had to be made. I got permission to skip Arithmancy and Runes classes to make it all work. I'm still doing all the work-I just can't physically attend the Monday and Tuesday Arithmancy classes or my Wednesday Runes class. Becoming the Runes teaching assistant has exacerbated the problem. If you have any problems with it, take it up with Schechter and whoever else came up with the original class schedule and help me advocate for a time-turner."
