Gerard scratched his head, wincing. "I, erm." Well, Gabe had seen Gerard working with Travis, so he supposed it really wasn't a secret now. And he still seemed to be on friendly terms with Adam, even though he thought Adam was the Hogwarts werewolf. Which was... unexpected, and oddly heartening. Gerard didn't usually talk about this aspect of his magic with people, since it often resulted in sneering and detentions, but Gabe seemed like he wouldn't judge, maybe.
"I don't know how, exactly? Snape freaked out about it, actually, the whole thing was kind of a nightmare -- anyway. I just do a lot of weird magic. Almost like baby magic, I guess? With the drawings and everything. I'd get impatient and just... sketch things on the cauldron. Kind of like wandwork, but more instinctive. I guess the solar salamanders turned the temperature up past what it was supposed to be -- I wasn't really paying attention. I kind of zoned out in Potions a lot." He shrugged apologetically. "It's a totally interesting field! Just not my thing, you know?"
