"You did what?" Gabe managed, though it was a little stretched by the fact that he was laughing more or less helplessly. Well, in this case, they were so totally getting wildly experimental. And drunk. This afternoon had improved about three-hundred percent in the past fifteen minutes. As he pushed aside a tray of drying eel scales to make room to set down the wine bottle, Gabe added, "Is that even possible? How do you hold a raised boil on lovage for that long?"
Look, Gabe's days of being an alchemancy snob were coming up on ten years behind him; if he'd learned anything in all his days of travel (and he'd learned a lot) it was that a lot of the best knowledge never became official. He wasn't going to rule out Gerard having done something theoretically "impossible" until he knew more.
Meanwhile, what were they going to need here? Cauldron; he pulled it forward from where it had been shoved last time he needed more space. Wine glasses; well, he had a couple of beakers that could be easily transfigured. And something to contain the snake in case she was grumpy on first waking. Gabe would be. Hmm. He cleared a little more space around the bottle, and drew his wand in a sizzling circle around it.
