"That's a good question," Victoria said. "I thought it was back here, but it makes sense that they'd move it--or that the castle would," she added thoughtfully. "I suppose I can chase it down myself." She moved to draw her wand, deliberately enough that Greta could see what she was doing and it wasn't alarming or frightening. "Or we could just head up to the Headmaster's office--unless that, too, has been moved."
It occurred to her that both the staff room and the Headmaster's office would have been prime targets in any attempt to take over the school, and both had probably seen a lot of combat. It made sense that on reinhabiting the place, the new Headmaster had had to move both of them. That was just Victoria and Greta's bad luck: that and the fact that there had obviously been some confusion about their arrival time.
