"Nice protection spell?" Z burst in. "Nice? I have seen what a variation of that can do in a duel-it twists things around awfully for anyone who casts a spell on you and can do some serious collateral damage. Uh uh," she pointed at Frank. "That is not a nice spell."
Z looked at him again and the magical energy twisting about him. It looked really cool, but she had no idea what it'd do.
"And," she added, "it's automatically linking with other stuff, I can't even tell, some of the colors are so laid over each other. Forgive me for being bloody well suspicious of a stranger with weird-as-fuck magic in a room full of kids right after we met a, a, a something in the Forest that completely disregarded the anti-Aparation wards!"
Z knew she was being a little hysterical, but that thing had gotten into the forest and it had no regard for the wards and Z knew some of what had gone into those wards, she'd looked at them with her fifth year Ancient Runes and Arithmancy classes and then gone out with a couple books and just looked at them. They were beautiful work and even in disrepair and with war damage, someone should NOT be able to apparate on the grounds or portkey without Schechter's permission. The wards were neither here nor there, she could think about that later. Right now Gerard had a new professor at wand point.
Z took a deep breath. "Sorry," she said a bit more calmly and sincerely. "None of this is personal, you're probably an excellent bloke to know, we just...don't know you. Tonight's been crazy and you're new and your magic is seriously strange with the tattoos and stuff. Uh, I can see it, by the way. Sort of. So, you know, jumping to conclusions and stuff," Z trailed off sort of helplessly.
