"It would be a temporary distraction at best," Gerard agreed, relieved to see Adam laughing. Things were going to be okay. Awkward as hell, probably. But okay. "I mean, once Mikey was deaf, his last memory of hearing would probably be of you telling him about the tree-climbing thing. Sort of counter-productive." Gerard paused, wincing. "Uh, not that that tree-climbing thing will ever happen, since your hair will remain untugged forever. By me, at least. Um."
And that was Gerard's cue to flee before he died of embarrassment-related issues, he thought.
