"I..." Gerard trailed off. He couldn't deny part of him was clamoring to just shove Adam against a wall and see what would happen this time around. But Adam was married, and even if it was an open marriage, and it seemed to be, Gerard just couldn't do that to himself. He wasn't capable of having that kind of relationship without getting invested. It was just who he was. And then hearts would be broken, probably Gerard's, and it'd all be a huge cataclysmic mess.
Not that it wasn't a mess already, but maybe at least this wasn't completely out of the realm of salvaging.
"So, what, we both avoid each other now?" Gerard asked glumly. He wanted another cigarette, but he didn't want to ask Adam for one, not now. He'd have one or twelve later in his room. "For how long?"
