Adam was a little startled to see Neuhaus streaking out of the infirmary as he caught sight of Adam. It was weird to see a kid who was normally about waist-high be, well, significantly taller. Adam hated his life so, so much. He hated being shorter, skinnier, and about seventeen. A lot.
"I need you to render me unconscious," Adam told Bryar with little preamble. "Because between the hormones and this zit that's growing in the middle of my forehead, I've had all I can stand." He was quiet for a moment, eying Bryar through a curtain of not-entirely-hygienic hair. "Also I hear you remember being an adult, and Merlin, do I ever miss people who can remember being adults."
