Ryland was simply trailing Pete out into the courtyard. Trying to stop it would be pointless and he would likely end up with a black eye, but he would like to at least make sure no one ended up too terribly injured. Although they seemed to have started out with hair pulling and elbowing, so maybe they would just have a slap fight and call it a day.
Ryland tucked his fingers into the pockets of his too long jeans when he came to a stop beside William and rocked back on his heels. "I would put money on Pete," he said. "And not just because I'm dating him."
Unlike Ryland, Pete had gotten smaller and more compact, but no less strong. Ryland had gotten smaller, yes, but also several times more awkward and at least twice as gangly. It was not an enjoyable experience.
